We had the good fortune of connecting with Serene Zloof and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Serene, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
When people ask me if I bungee jump or skydive, I say “Performing is my Extreme Sport. I get on stage fearing the worst kind of death – the public one.”

Performing is about wearing your heart on your sleeve, no matter how the crowd responds.

Sometimes you are Crowned. Other times, you are Crucified. Either way, the only action is to open your heart even more.

Risk taking is about sharing work that I feel slightly, or even greatly, scared to reveal. Things that may not work. Feelings I’m not proud of. Experiences I pass off as fiction.

I use that fear as a barometer. If I don’t feel slightly uneasy about a piece of work, it’s not worth my time to pursue. Seth Godin has a statistic that if 100% of people like an idea, it’s already out of the bag. But if half the people like it, and the other half don’t care or, better yet, have strong feelings about it — that may be a sign you are breaking new ground.

“The Unicorn Diaries” was my first dramedy script that tapped into both my Love experiences and my family history. It was a double whammy. I couldn’t believe I was actually going to share it with the world. But I think that is what made it work. Writing from the heart, and also that it tapped into some uncomfortable subjects, particularly NonMonogamy,
and resonated.

I am currently writing an episode about jealousy in my new series “Sex Tech Magic & Mayhem”.
And yes, I am feeling unease about sharing it with my peers. Even though we all experience envy, it is an insidious emotion that we don’t easily admit, as it highlights our own insecurities. So we add shame to the envy, and feel ever worse.

Just as we can Transmute envy into something positive, we can transmute the fear of “what will people think?” into the courage to expose something unsaid or bold or innovative. Or…it may not work.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Magic and Alchemy meets the Poly RomCom with a side of Beats & Rhymes – this is the unique flavor I contribute to TV/Film and Music.

I am a Comedic Actress, Rap Sensation and the Writer, Creator and Star of the new Variety series “Sex Tech, Magic and Mayhem” —

A sexy edgy techie comedy series exploring topics like NonMonogamy, the Metaverse, AI, Slut-shaming, Manifestation, Sex Magic and more, using Standup Comedy, Sketches and Dramedy Scenes, combined with Electronic Rap musical segments.

STMM is being produced at NBCreative Studios, and filmed by a phenomenal Director of Photography Natalie Bible’, who has been innovating the colorful visual style that makes the content really pop.

When I am not filming the show in LA,

I tour internationally with a “VARIETEASE” Show with performance collaborator Zapper Jones. We recently wrapped a tour to New Zealand and Hawaii, and will be touring Europe in the summer of 2024.

I am extremely excited at the upcoming release of my feature film “The Unicorn Diaries”, which I wrote and starred in, and co-produced with director Cate Caplin,

Especially as it touches on the personal journey of being a first generation Middle Eastern artist exploring Ethical NonMonogamy.

My current show “Sex Tech Magic & Mayhem” and the accompanying podcast “Sex Tech Magic the Podcast” – which streams live every Wednesday at 2pm Pacific Time(on DatgirlTV on all platforms — consists of four elements: character work, relationships, music and science.

I write and perform Characters. I write and act “as myself” in Relationships with others. I write podcast segments that explore the Science of these topics. And I write accompanying Music – electronic rap that I play live on drum machines, synthesizers, samples and vocal loops.

After spending years trying to pair down my art for certain genres, I have since gone 360 and now combine the elements that only I can bring to my signature alchemical creative mix.

For me, the challenge of being a creative person producing my own work is spending so much time alone, keeping myself disciplined, and getting in my reps. It can feel boring to do the same things over and over. My mantra is simple: get 1% better each day as a writer, actor and musical performer. That’s it. Baby steps taken in Flow State. Work with people I love. And have fun along the way !

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Fairfax District is my stomping ground so we would stay local ! First we would go shopping on Fairfax, at DollsKill, Huf, or any of the thrift stores on the block. If my friend is not vegan lol, burgers and fries at Trophies Burger Club or Dave’s Hot Chicken. If they are vegan we would have a boozy ice tea and brunch at Sweetchick across the street.

Then we would visit the to the historic Writers Guild Library to check out the one-of-a-kind film and television scripts that are an industry gem! Then we would visit the Farmers Market for Little John’s Fudge or a Donut, and the Grove Fountain Bar for a martini overlooking the fountain. After that we would visit the La Brea Tar Pits (for Science Geeks) or LACMA (for Art Geeks), or both since they are right next to each other.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
SHOUTOUT to Joseph Rodrigues !

As a writer performer producer I am actively on a mission to bring alchemy, mentalism, imagination and the works of incredible philosophers and teachers into the entertainment world.

I have watched countless round-the-clock hours of a YouTube channel created by Joseph Rodrigues — www.JosephRodrigues.com – who consistently creats a stunning amount of content combining alchemy and mentalism with entrepreneurship and business, among other things, and especially breaks down the teachings of Neville Godard and Napoleon Hill.

Joseph’s Online Courses, weekly Q&As, and business coaching are by far some of the best self development and magical instruction I have come across. At the suggestion of one of his courses, I now create Subconscious Mind Audios of my own voice talking about and feeling my vision of a joyful blissful life. I listen to these recordings every morning, and it has literally changed my vibration and has brought all of my “definite chief aims” to pass.

I highly suggest not just checking out his channel, but listening to his videos repeatedly even during sleep. His work will truly transform how you view the world and your place in it.
