We had the good fortune of connecting with Sergio and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sergio, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
Being able to write music with my close friends and being happy with the art we 3 individuals create together. It’s very rewarding.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We are called Urgent Care, a three-piece, Post-Punk/Noise-Rock outfit from Los Angeles CA. Band members include myself, Sergio Camarena(vocals/guitar), Mario De La Cruz(Bass) and Oscar Ruvalcaba(drums). I think we stand out with a massive sound from just three guys playing rock music. We’re really excited about our upcoming EP that’s coming out in May this year. We’re still an independent artist and we all work jobs to support ourselves and becoming a professional musician is very difficult in this day and age. But there’s much more resources available now then when we started playing in bands. I think community is what really helps bands nowadays, meeting new people who will give your music a listen and giving you support by buying merch and building something from nothing. We’ve learned a lot by not tiring ourselves out and just enjoy making music together. I think we just want the world to know that we’ve created some good tunes and stayed true to ourselves and our music.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would probably start the day with some breakfast burritos at Tacos Villa Corona in Atwater Village. Amazingly good and affordable burritos in LA. Then head over to Huntington Gardens for some good scenery and walking around the beautiful Japanese Gardens. After that, grab some lunch at Lost Parrot in South Pasadena and some coffee at Two Kids down the way. Later on that night, probably head down to Permanent Records for some vinyl picking and catch a show and a drink all at the same spot. Then to finally end with it a night cap at Little Cave. There’s honestly so much to do and see in this city, you can rely on public transportation for some of it, but you definitely need a car for most of it. There’s amazing people in this city all around you and if you’re not from here. 9 times out of 10, just admit that your not and they will give you some great recommendations for food, entertainment, and nightlife. It really is a melting pot.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I guess we would have to give our Shoutout to anyone who actually comes out to see us play live. We very much enjoy the feeling of playing our music in front of an audience because we think that’s the only way you can’t fake what you really are to people. So, shoutout to the fans and venues who provide a safe space for musicians to do their thing.
