Meet Shabba Ry | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shabba Ry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shabba Ry, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I feel I was supposed to be an artist. And I was born to create. I’ve always struggled with expressing myself and finding the words to encapsulate how I feel but when I write how I feel in a song everything just flows. I be always loved music and art and have always gravitated towards them. I feel that I was meant to be a creative.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It’s definitely been a roller coaster getting to where I am now in my artistry. I’ve struggle with motivation, support, self-doubt, and so much more. But I think getting through those obstacles and tests only made my love for what I do that much stronger and made me more sure of what I’m doing. I pride myself on writing and producing music and doing it my way and that has brought me so much peace in my process and allowed me to make purer and truer music.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’ll usually hit up Cork and Batter in Inglewood. Great drinks, great food, amazing servers and definitely always a good time. I’ve become a huge fan of The Black Market Flea! All of the vendors are super welcoming and I meet some dope people there whenever I go.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ve been influenced by so many artists that it would take forever to write them down but a few important and influential artists are Marvin Gaye, Frank Ocean, Tame Impala, and Kanye West.
