We had the good fortune of connecting with Shade Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shade, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m from Grand Rapids, Michigan and being from the Midwest and a smaller city in comparison to Los Angeles and Detroit has definitely added to the proud young Black woman I am today.
God, family, sports and the arts have had an enormous impact in who I am as well and I believe they are the big 3 that are still fueling my success. I was raised as the only girl among boys (2 brothers and 3 boy cousins), so you can only imagine the confidence, independence and tranquility a small gal like myself needed in order to not only shine, but solidify my spot in this world in general. Thankfully, I was blessed with a lot of my skills and attributes, but I was raised to still be hardworking and determined, which I found a direct teaching through sports.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an entertainer and a creative in general, so I do a lot! I am a host, actor, cheerleader, singer and personality. Fortunately, I have been doing most of my jobs all my life, but after high school I thought they weren’t realistic with the career path that I had decided. In pursuits to one day become a doctor, I gave up my dream of being a successful entertainer. While pre-med in college, I began to have second thoughts of my career path and decided to pursue journalism and become a multimedia journalist. Being a multimedia journalist equipped my tool belt of all kinds of skills within the entertainment world from talent, production, writing, post production and more, even though I didn’t know it at the time. Through journalism, my love of performance and the creative arts was reborn. While pursuing a Masters in journalism at USC I fell in love with hosting and knew for a fact that it was one of my callings. Hosting led me back to acting and now I do this, that and the third. Specifically, I host events, livestreams, talk shows, etc. I act in TV, film or theatre, I cheerlead for the LA Kings and I am a new cast member on React Media a YouTube channel. But, I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I love being a Jackie of all trades.

There is not enough room on the web page to explain how many challenges and hardships I have gone through following my dreams. And although it was difficult, I always have managed to keep going. What people don’t understand is that I’m hungry and I believe in myself and talents that there is no other option, but to succeed. And i definitely would not have overcome any of my hardships without God, family and friends.

One of the best lessons I’ve taken from everything is rejection is redirection. Anytime, I have faced any challenge I know there is a reason why I’m not getting what I want. And there literally has always been something better out there that even exceeded what I thought I wanted.

If you don’t even remember how to pronounce my name correctly (pronounced like Sade, the singer), at the very least remember that I am me and only me. My authenticity is what separates me from everyone, and I love that about me. What 2 Chainz say?

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If one of my best friends came to visit me, I’d take them to the IPIC Theaters because their theatre experience they created is so elevated in comparison to most. (And they give you a soft blanket). Then I’d take them out to eat Fixins or depending on the day go get food and catch a vibe at Black Market Flea, Black on the Block or Hot Water Cornbread. Then of course end my night dancing away shutting the house down with music and hosting from CB5 @th3kidcb5, Deezy @wendeezylive and Briggs @briggs at the THE DEEP END only at the Delphi Hotel.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout my Dad, Stevie and Andrew for the strength and support y’all have displayed. And shoutout everyone in general who loves and supports me. Words can’t describe what it means to have y’all rooting for me. Go support my brothers music and follow him on IG: @scuubstar & congrats to Trine University Men’s Basketball team for winning the ’23-’24 National Championship! And you already know, shout out God!
