We had the good fortune of connecting with Shaila Paredes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shaila, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
Throughout my 18 years of being an Esthetician, I would say the most important lesson my career has taught me is that people will seek an artist because of what they’ve seen or heard regarding their talent, but they return and become a regular client because of how you make them feel through your positive attitude, work ethic and the talent and artistry you apply to fulfill their needs.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a Brow Artist, I’d like to say that what sets me apart from other artists is being able to listen to what the client wants and deliver it continuously to each individuals taste. Whether it is me taking the clients ideas and adding what I’ve learned or them just allowing me to perform my craft and give them the look that I believe compliments them best, I am grateful that they are satisfied and return to allow me to do it for them visit after visit. After years working for several Brow Artists I made the decision to venture out on my own for the past 7 years and even though it was not easy, through hard work and consistency I was able to create a steady clientele and I am constantly grateful and proud to be able to do what I love. After 18 years in the industry I am confident in what I do and more than happy to know that clients who come to me are guaranteed to leave happy and satisfied.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Long Beach, California where there are always a lot of fun events and things to do. So if a friend was visiting, we would definitely have to spend some time at the beach, walk down 2nd street in Belmont Shore where there are tons of amazing restaurants. I personally love Sushi on Fire, not only do they have some of the best sushi, but my fiancé and I had one of our first dates there so it’s a special place to me. After some good food I think it would be fun to check out a comedy show at The Laugh Factory. I am very lucky to live in Southern California because I could write for days because there is so much to do here. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I definitely cannot talk about my career without mentioning Eugenia Weston. The founder of Senna Cosmetics and a pioneer in the beauty industry. After I graduated from High School, Eugenia gave me my first apprenticeship opportunity. I was able to observe and learn from her incredible talent and acquire a positive work ethic and a complete understanding of the industry. I’ve been able to work with other talented artists, but without my experience with Eugenia Weston, I believe my experience could have been very different.
