We had the good fortune of connecting with Shanae & Shakiera and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shanae & Shakiera, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Work life balance has been a struggle since the beginning of EgoSwim, considering my partner and I currently work full-time jobs in addition to running this business. I would like to stress the importance of planning as this is how we were able to find some kind of balance. Planning includes anything from completely writing down a list of things that needs to be done for a specific time period (day/week) to planning and creating seamless processes for the business. The most important of these is creating seamless processes that will allow the business to continue without active daily involvement. These processes may include outsourcing, having meetings to plan for the next few months and grouping tasks to assign them accordingly. Over the past few years, we continue to focus on process improvements so that we are able to continue evolving not only as business owners but also in other areas of our lives.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
EgoSwim is your go to body positive beachwear! We encourage everyone to be confident in our suits because our suits are created for everyBODY. We highlight this through our designs as well as when we showcase our designs. When designing our swimsuits, we make it our duty to do research and speak to people of different body types to get their feedbacks regarding what their struggles are with finding swimsuits. When curating our photoshoots, we try our best to have models of various body types. We have had a few bumps in the road, however we continue to keep our customers in mind every step of the way. Because of this, EgoSwim continue to grow as a brand.

EgoSwim have been so blessed to have received the level of support we have over the years. We thank everyone for their support, whether that be encouraging words, business advice, sharing our brand with friends and family, and most importantly, our customers – You guys continue to support us every step of the way and we cannot thank you enough.
