Meet Shani Sibrian-Boyes

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shani Sibrian-Boyes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shani, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Creepy Sweets was created to combine my love of baking, art, and horror. Originally, I was baking cakes, treats, and cupcakes for my family and close friends as a hobby. Once I began combining art, design and horror into my baking and putting those images and ideas out into social media, I began finding like-minded individuals who also enjoyed unique treats. Once the support started pouring in, I was able to better embrace my personality and gain confidence to acquire new skills to create more designs and treats to further expand my business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been an artist since a very young age and continuously pursued art as a career into college. I graduated from FIDM-LA as a Graphic Designer, which has helped me apply branding, marketing, design, and artistry into my current business as Creepy Sweets. With custom cake orders, for example, I am able to help my customers with color schemes and layouts to produce a beautiful cake for their event.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
SoCal has a huuuge list of fun activities, shops, historical sites, and hidden gems throughout many cities. Although cliche, I’d plan trips to iconic attractions such as Hollywood Blvd and Santa Monica Promenade. Other trip ideas would include museums, local event markets, small business coffee shops, and a drive up PCH.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This shoutout goes to aaaall my Creepy Humans who have supported Creepy Sweets! Every treat and item that is created is inspired by the support, ideas, and requests I receive from my followers and customers. They not only support my business but they support ME as an individual, and that is such an amazing feeling. Thank youuu, my Creepy Humans!
