Meet Shannon Pfrunder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shannon Pfrunder and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shannon, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
After over a decade of working as a nurse in high-acuity hospital settings—trauma, ER, and the OR—I returned to school to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). I then spent 13+ years practicing both in hospitals and private practice. During that time, I began exploring aesthetics as a side passion. I was drawn to the precision of injecting, the evolving techniques, and especially the science behind regenerative medicine and how it could be applied to the aging process.
What began as a personal interest quickly turned into something more meaningful. I started practicing aesthetics alongside my daughter, who had been working as a cardiac ICU nurse. We began small—renting a single room and partnering with a spa. But over time, I had a realization: after years of working under others in high-stress environments, I wanted to take the reins. I didn’t want another boss—I wanted to build something of my own.
So I partnered with a trusted medical director and opened Rewind Aesthetics. It gave me the opportunity to create a practice that reflects my values, my vision, and my standards of care. I wanted a space where my daughter and I could grow a family-run business, one where we could choose our team with intention, provide the highest level of aesthetic care, and cultivate a warm and empowering experience for every patient. Rewind is the result of both clinical experience and personal conviction—a place that does not feel like work but rather like home to me.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets Rewind Aesthetics apart is the heart behind the brand. We’re a family-run practice led by experienced, advanced-practice nurses—and every detail, from our treatments to our space, is intentional. We blend medical expertise with artistry, and we truly care about how people feel when they walk through our doors. We don’t believe in overdone results—we believe in helping people feel confident, refreshed, and like the best version of themselves, without losing what makes them unique.
I’m most proud of the community we’ve built. Our patients aren’t just names on a chart—they’re people we care about deeply. Watching them come in nervous and leave glowing (sometimes literally!) is the most rewarding part of what we do. I’m also incredibly proud to be building this alongside my daughter. As an Italian woman, family is my foundation, and to share this with her has been one of the greatest joys of my life.
Getting here wasn’t easy. We started from scratch—renting a single room and building our business one relationship at a time. There were plenty of long days, self-doubt, financial risk, and hard lessons. But what got us through was our why. I knew I didn’t want to spend the rest of my career answering to someone else—I wanted to bring my vision to life, and create a space where people could age beautifully, naturally, and with confidence.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that passion is only part of the equation—consistency, grit, and surrounding yourself with the right people matters just as much. We’ve been lucky to work under the guidance of our medical director, Dr. Kian Karimi, whose mentorship has been invaluable.
What I want the world to know about Rewind is this: we are more than a med spa. We are a place where you will find clinical expertise and genuine, personal care. Where family values shape business decisions. And where beauty is never about trends—it’s about empowerment, self-respect, and aging on your own terms.
We co-create each treatment plan, prioritize education, and always lead with transparency and kindness. Beyond covering our clients’ aesthetic goals, we genuinely love getting to know everyone who sits in our chair on a personal level.
We are results-driven, not sales-driven. Our pricing is thoughtful and flexible, making high-quality aesthetic care approachable without compromising on integrity or service. Our mission is to make aesthetic treatments feel empowering, not overwhelming.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to visit, I’d absolutely want to show them the beauty and charm of Culver City—the place that’s become such a meaningful part of my life, both personally and professionally. I’ve gotten to know this community through my work and involvement with the Chamber of Commerce, and there’s something really special about the local businesses and people here.
We’d start our mornings at MDR Pilates in Culver City—it’s my favorite way to move and set the tone for the day. From there, we’d walk over to MillCross Coffee for a perfectly made latte and a light breakfast. After that, we’d stroll through Downtown Culver, popping into the mom-and-pop shops and just soaking up the neighborhood vibes.
One day would definitely be a beach day. We’re so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of Southern California—sunshine, salty air, and of course, lots of SPF. For lunch, I’d take them to one of my go-to Italian spots, depending on the mood: Bay Cities Italian Deli for an iconic sandwich (the Godmother is my personal favorite), or K Bella Pizza if we’re craving a warm, cozy slice of authentic Italian comfort food. Both are staples in my rotation and never disappoint.
I’m not big on going out, so we’d probably wind down most nights back at my place. I’d host a family BBQ by the pool and spa, just enjoying that perfect 70-degree afternoon weather, laughing, eating, and catching up in the most laid-back way possible.
If we were to go out one evening, we might stop by Jameson’s Pub—according to my daughter, it’s the best Irish pub around. Another night, we’d treat ourselves to a great steak dinner at Dear John’s—a timeless Culver City favorite with great food and even better ambiance.
To me, a perfect week is all about meaningful conversations, family time, good food, and some good weather!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the love, support, and influence of some incredible people in my life.
First, I have to thank my father. As an Italian, family is everything to me—and my dad has always been a steady example of what it means to work hard and provide for those you love. He spent his career running publishing departments for several newspapers, and his work ethic is unmatched. But even more than that, he always showed up for our family, no matter what. I look up to him in more ways than I can count, and I carry his values with me in both my personal and professional life.
Secondly, I want to give a huge thank you to my fiancé, Tony Grasso. Rewind Aesthetics wouldn’t be where it is today without him. He’s been our rock—supporting not only me, but my daughter and our entire team from day one. After years of long hours in the stock market, Tony poured his energy into helping us build this business. He believed in my dream before it was even a reality, and I’ll forever be grateful for the love and encouragement he continues to give so generously.
Last but not least, I absolutely have to recognize my partner and medical director, Dr. Kian Karimi. He’s a double board-certified facial plastic surgeon, and he took a leap of faith in partnering with us early on. His mentorship, training, and unwavering support have helped shape Rewind into what it is today. Beyond being a brilliant physician, Dr. Karimi is a kind, grounded, and generous person—a family man who shares our values and has become more than a partner and director, but a true friend and guide on this journey.
Rewind is a product of hard work, yes—but more importantly, it’s a reflection of the people who stood by me and believed in me. I dedicate this shoutout to them.
