We had the good fortune of connecting with Shaton M. Squires and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shaton M., can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
There’s a tremendous affect my business has in both the community and the world. When we impact and support mental wellness we affect the world we live in. As a Holistic Relationship Counselor, I have the pleasure of meeting clients right where they are. It’s been my goal to successfully work with individuals to address emotional pain, early trauma in family relations as well as the mentality of a broken heart. Our communities are impacted when we don’t talk to someone about inner trials we face. I offer a safe space for couples, individuals and all to vent, cry, yell and become aware.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Counseling on Purpose is my small practice here in Inglewood. I’m an ordained minister and work with clergy, and individuals who need or desire counsel. What’s sets me apart is I’m not traditional by any stretch of the word. I’m a very transparent counselor, regarding life, love, etc. I implement holistic principles and holy scripture when discussing topics of family, love, career and life. I literally offer individuals a space to be themselves, pour out and take time to rebuild themselves with zero judgement.
It’s had several challenges with building as does any venture in entrepreneurship. Initial challenges were are you qualified, how many clients will I have? Can I live off my wisdom and principles, realistically. However I have a can do attitude and mindset and it has propelled me to the next level. I’ve learned never done talk yourself, you’ll have plenty of opponents to square with, don’t do it to yourself.

I’d like individuals to realize how important they are! How important there voice is, the problems we bottle up and carry over the years can be addressed. It’s never to late to seek support. More importantly counseling is for everyone, not just mentally ill clients. We all need support.

Finally, I love what I do and to serve and support others is my calling, my purpose and my life. Helping is what we do – Counseling on Purpose.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d schedule a day of pampering. We’d go to GLEN IVY hot springs in Corona. Complete with mud baths, massages, mani/pedi. Facials and the works.

Day 2-3 we take a Wine Tour in Santa Barbara. We take the train up, get on the tour for 4 hours, enjoy the prized wines, exotic cheeses and just enjoy our girl time.

Day 4 being the dare devil I am I’d like to go Sky Diving – so we’d plan a nice air jump with lunch.

Day 5 I believe we’d do some type of live music at the Playboy Jazz festival usually in June in Hollywood, dinner with great friends.

Day 6 SHOPPING 🛍, who doesn’t like retail therapy!!!!

Day 7 – a free day of Relaxing

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Wow, I guess I’d have to honor my experiences. To be quite honest having relationships that did not pan out. Dealing with disappointments and feeling my way through things truly taught me and motivated me to never give up. I’d also give credit to my kids, Ahsia, Arys, Amaz. They were instrumental in me desiring to work with people and diving into how we grow at home directly affects our adulthood, decisions, relationships, responsibilities and management skills.
