Meet Shawn Atkins: Artist-Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shawn Atkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shawn, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Being on time.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I want the world to hard work pays off. through the years I’ve worked the hard jobs touring on the production side of things doing a lot of heavy lifting and I love every minute… Support the artist every show to make sure things go smoothly as possible on and off stage. We’re one big family out on the road and it’s important we work together at all times, it’s not always easy but it is a must. I’ve learned a lot people. Working close quarters with a group of individuals who are all (for the most part) tops in their field things can be very touchy as everyone in the room has an ego. Hey why not Traveling the world as a roadie has been the best job ever for me. I’ve learned every nuance of the touring artist and musician, good & bad. Me as an artist now I know better how to handle things while approaching a show or a tour as there’s so much that goes into the actual preparation. My aim is to be one of the busiest productions on the touring circuit at 250+ shows a year, and not necessarily for the money but the love of the road and performing. My brand of soul is all about love, building together and making timeless music. Im having a great time curating my upcoming project the ep BECOMING SHAWN ATKINS. I had slate a date for it’s release but it will be done when it’s ready… I’m enjoying the life leading up to it

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Depending on the time of day hear in LA, I prefer early evening rooftop happy hour or meal being that there’s so much to do in the evening. Nightlife can be as many as 3 stops in one evening, live music / jam sessions, house party or recording sessions, never a dull time… Every night there’s something to get into so with company I’ll pace myself with little slice of something special scheduled throughout the week. There’s beach life, industry life and the always favorite meeting cool people life… let’s go, keep upThe Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others.
