We had the good fortune of connecting with Shenee Randolph and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shenee, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Without risk there is no reward! I risked Failing miserably in starting a new career at 31 with a husband and two kids to work as a cosmetologist. But I knew that following my purpose I’d be ok. There were setbacks but they were just a part of the setup!!!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a cosmetologist and textured hair specialist. I am proud of stepping out of the white collar world to step into my passion and purpose. I’m especially excited to wake up everyday to touch hair and almost always touch a life and heart. It wasn’t an easy road, deciding to walk away from a union job to become a full time student at 31 with two little ones came with financial hardships and personal struggles. I learned to overcome you must always stay positive and persistent. Never listen to the Debbie downers and follow your heart. God will always help you through it all. Love yourself, your whole self… I’ll help with the hair (smile)
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d take them to on a hike to the cross in Ventura, hit a movie in downtown Oxnard, and eat at any taco truck (there are plenty) . I was born and raised in Oxnard and taking a walk on the beach or hitting up the collection for a little retail therapy is always nice.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe my success to God, family, and friends. Without God showing me my purpose I would’ve never been able to work doing what I love! My family and friends stood by me and supported me through the up and downs, late nights, early mornings and everything in between! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!
