We had the good fortune of connecting with Sherwin Loyal and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sherwin, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting a business is simple. -I created the acronym “A.$.E.T.”— Analyize your desired market, $ecure Funds, Execute, and finally, Troubleshoot. These 4 pillars are my basic blueprint for starting a business. Though there are many strategic bullet points in between, If you dont know where to start, A.$.E.T. is an exeptional base formula to get on the right track to building a successful business plan.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Apart from running my business, i still have a regular 9-5 job. I am apart of one of the biggest Healthcare systems in our nation, ensuring every hospital, medical clinic, and healthcare facility under our umbrella constantly has the supplies and integration it needs to provide quality care to its patients. Starting in Hospital Supply Chain at 18 years old, i worked my way up the corporate ladder to where i am today. I’ve learned that experience can go a long way. Starting from the bottom has taught me to never take anything for granted, and all it takes is one opportunity to change your life. You might think that entry level position isnt good enough, but after paying your dues, your opportunity will come. Patience is a virtue, and like i said, experience means everything.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Being from Southern California, the “Valley” to be specific, we are spoiled with sunshine, beaches, and some amazing resturaunts. I’d definitley hit PCH for some beach fun, have a drink at the many amazing local breweries, grab a bite to eat at one of L.A.s many fresh and organic farmers markets, and then cap the night off barhopping some aesteticly pleasing hole-in-the-wall bars in DTLA.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Mentorship and support is a big part of initially starting a business. I’ve been blessed to have the love and support of many individuals throughout my journey. I’d like to give a big shout out to my brother Leo, who has been there to hear all whacky my ideas non-stop. Also another big shout out to my co-workers (past/present) from the multitude of amazing Healthcare systems I have been a part of. They’ve spent many years listening to my dreams and aspirations of business ownership, all while we hustled through our daily 9-5s together. Last but not least, I’d like to give a big shout out to my parents, 2 hardworking, young immigrants who came to the USA 30 years ago to create a better opportunity for their children. Everyday i work hard to ensure their sacrifice did not go to waste.
