We had the good fortune of connecting with Erika Merriweather and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erika, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I developed my own approach to Astrology called Star Path Astrology. I look at a person’s star path as a combination of their life path in the practical sense of what kind of career they would be best suited for, their relationship interests, communication styles, how they feel in their physical bodies, their creativity, but then combined with the bigger, cosmic portrait of who they are as a soul, what they’ve come to learn and develop in themselves this lifetime, and what they are karmically completing, to the benefit of their fullest self-expression. My readings are designed to give people an understanding of who they are cosmically, so that it informs who they are right here, right now in their day to day life. It’s meant to be inspiring, but also deeply practical, so you can really implement things immediately that make your life better. I love doing Zoom readings, because it’s such a fun personal connection, and as serious as discovering your cosmic self can be, it’s not meant to feel heavy. My goal with every person I read for is to have them feeling better about themselves and their life, capable of making whatever changes they want to, and excited for the future.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I never dreamed that I would become a professional astrologer, but it was something that really happened organically as I followed my spiritual path and pursued my own quest for understanding myself and my inner workings. The more I learned about astrology, the more amazed I was at how much information and confirmation exists within our birth chart about who we are, why we’re here, and so, so many nuances and details into how we think, act, love, create and live. I think the biggest challenge I had was to really trust my own voice in astrology and feel like I was qualified to guide other people in something so personal and powerful as your life path. I was hesitant at first to give professional readings, but my mentors encouraged me to try it out with friends and family first. From the moment I started with my first reading, the words just flowed and flowed and flowed. It felt like stepping into the most comfortable, secure and timeless version of myself, just me, the person I was reading for, and this beautiful cosmic blueprint for us to discover together. My readings really took off and developed a life of their own, most of my clients come to me for a birth chart and then end up sending their friends and family to me too because they can’t believe how much information they learned and how deeply it resonated with them. One of my favorite readings to do is family astrology; I have parents come to me all the time wanting personal readings for themselves, and then readings for their kids and all the family’s charts together to learn how to create more peace and harmony in the home by balancing each other astrological strengths and challenges. My favorite readings have actually been for kids. I just imagine how different my life would have been if I’d known about my birth chart growing up, or if my whole family knew each other’s astro compatibility, how we would have all understood one another better and embraced our unique trajectories without all the drama! I love getting to be a part of each of my client’s journey to self realization, and everyday I feel so grateful to have this kind of connection with the world.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would literally take someone to as many places as I could and probably exhaust them completely because there is SO MUCH to do in LA! The first thing I would book for them immediately is to go to The Circle of Light, it’s an evening of messages from spirit channeled by my spiritual mentor, Riz Mirza. People can come and receive messages from their spirit guides as well as loved ones who’ve crossed over, set in some of the most magical spots in Malibu. It’s incredibly moving, and often life changing, and I take everyone I know. I love unique, hidden gem places that just feel like they’re in another world, but also deeply one of a kind, like they couldn’t possibly exist anywhere but here. Some of my favorites are the Max Factor Museum (filled with Classic Hollywood memorabilia), Halloween Town, which is the only store dedicated to Halloween decor year round and is truly awesome, the Magic Castle because who doesn’t want to see magic shows in a castle, and the Old Place in Malibu for the best cinnamon rolls ever in an authentic old western restaurant.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be here without the mentorship of Riz & Oriah Mirza. Riz is a master trance channel and psychic medium, and his wife, Oriah is profoundly impactful and intuitive as a metaphysical teacher herself. I learned everything I know about how our beliefs shape our reality and how to use astrology as a tool for understanding our soul path and letting our fullest selves come through this lifetime from their mentorship and guidance. I would never have found my voice as an astrologer nor recognized my abilities as something real and valuable in service to others had it not been for the example they set as master teachers and their deep support and guidance of my own learning process.
