We had the good fortune of connecting with Shilo Warr and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shilo, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
As a hairstylist of almost 10 years, I have worked in some of busiest salons. They were such a fun experience but after years of being in chaos, I wanted something more intimate and relaxing for my clients and I. In early 2020, I played with idea of opening a small salon and toured a couple buildings. The pandemic had hit and put a pause of the idea of opening a business. After multiple shut downs and limitations hairstylist had to work with, I thought “well what better time to take the plunge and open a small studio!” A building I had viewed earlier was still vacant so I applied. Within a a couple weeks I got approved and started renovations. In late September 2020, Styles Stayin’ Gold Hair Studio opened its doors! My clients and I have loved every minute of the intimate setting and being in a cute cozy space. After about a year being open, I thought to myself “there’s something missing from my craft”. As a lover of all things holistic and clean beauty, I’ve always had trouble finding plant based clean hair products that were still salon quality. I took matters into my own hands and after many trails with multiple labs, I found my lab and created Golden Luna Haircare. We are a 100% plant based hair care line that is salon quality. Golden Luna is a holistic and reiki infused with the crystals each product is named/inspired by. All our products are color and chemical treatment safe for clients to get good use of. We now have grown to be in a couple boutiques and a few salons! There is always a new product in the works & it keeps the excitement going!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Lancaster is about an hour north of LA. We are a desert town that is filled with creative individuals. Lots of salons, tattoo shops, locally owned bars/restaurants, etc. Some of my hot spots I would reccomend is starting your day off with some coffee from Liquid Bean, take your coffee just down the street & make your way to Leo + Mamas to shop for some gifts/home goods. Next door to Leo + Mamas is Heat & Halo, a holistic treatment spot with infrared saunas, cold plunge, & a salt room! For lunch time, we like to stroll over to Lancaster BLVD. A local main street with all local restaurants & shops. We like to get lunch from Lucky Luke Brew Pub ( this is actually their 2nd location in the antelope valley! Their 1st being their og taproom in Palmdale that just celebrated 8 years!) they have great locally crafter beer & a unique spin on the classic pub food! If you’re feeling a little pre drink before dinner, we like to head to The Third Place Barroom. Excellent craft cocktails in the cutest atmosphere. Time for our favorite spot to eat dinner, The Ravens Nest. A gourmet gothic dining experience. All sibling owned & operated. Amazing drinks & insane food dishes. Always a good time here!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Being a hairstylist for almost 10 years now I would not be where I am without my clients. I was fortunate enough to build a full clientele within a few short months after beauty school. Some that I still have to this day 10 years later! Being with different personalities all day everyday keeps things exciting & encouraging. My clients are some of my biggest supporters. When I first launched Golden Luna Haircare, I sold out of my full stock in 2 days all going to clients. They keep me motivated to keep doing what I’m doing, hype me up, and always wanting me to create more hair care people will love.
