We had the good fortune of connecting with Shy Wright and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shy, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
My favorite quote is, ” There’s purpose in the process.” It doesn’t if I have a bad day, fail at something or miss all the marks, I know it’s part of my journey. This quote keeps me focused and going because I understand I never lose. Either I win or learn. Knowing there’s purpose in the process is a daily reminder to intentionally live to fulfil my purpose.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I own a personal development & consulting business and I’m the founder of Healing for Her ministry. I help women heal negative life experiences and teach them how to use them to discover or move forward in their purpose. I’m a speak, host workshops and provide mentor and life coaching services. I believe people should focus on doing life because if your life is a mess, it’ll affect the business. What sets me apart from others is my transparency. Sharing my experiences with women has allowed me to support them on their journey. I can’t count the times I’ve been told, ” thank you for be so open, I no longer feel alone.” I truly believe I am here to equip, educate and empower women to excel in life to do business or ministry.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I was hanging with my bestie for a week-long trip, it would be random and fun. We would eat at Maestros, Wing Stop and the Grand Lux Cafe for sure. I’m drinking anything virgin; my favorite is a virgin peach margarita. Since we have a week, we would visit Miami or Hawaii. I love being surrounded by water and good vibes. These places would suit us well. The most fun thing would be spending time with my bestie because great friends are hard to come by. Meeting new people and trying new things is always fun too.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I must shout God out, because He’s God, but in my darkest moments I only had him to depend on. My 2nd grade teacher that believed in my dream to be a singer, she encouraged me and helped me record my first song . My 6th grade teacher was very supportive. She listened to me and allowed me to vent because I was often overwhelmed with my responsibilities at home. My youth department leader when I was a teen in church. She took me under her wings and became my mentor. My home church was very instrumental in my life. Church is where I became aware of my gifts, talents and purpose. It was my training ground for many things I do now, it’s my foundation. I’ve connected with many people along the way on my journey that also influenced me, loved on me, supported and encouraged. I am thankful for every person that took time to invest in me and those that continue to invest in me.
