Meet Shyon Keoppel | Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shyon Keoppel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shyon, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind my newest business venture, Melrose Place all started with the amazing location. The building, located on Melrose Place, has so much character and offers an incredible rooftop with sunset views hillside.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My latest venture is a dining destination called Melrose Place, on Melrose Place. The space has 3 floors. The first floor is a neighborhood lunch sushi concept, and the second floor is set up for quick and easy walk-in breakfast/lunch counter service during the day that converts to a reservation-only dinner service in the evening. The two sides of the second floor really give our consumer different experiences fit for day and night. The third floor is an open-air rooftop with sunset views hillside every afternoon.
It definitely has not been an easy journey. There are a lot of long days and a lot of stress. As a driven entrepreneur, once you start a project, you have to cross the finish line and never give up. Always ask for help if you need it! Consult with knowledgeable friends or people in the industry who may be able to offer you some much-needed advice. I have learned there will always be challenges that arise, but you have to strategize and think solutionally to overcome the problem at hand.
Firstly, I want the world to know that I am always willing to help up-and-coming entrepreneurs with advice. I have been in their shoes and being a young and hungry entrepreneur has propelled me to a place of success I never thought imaginable. Secondly, I want the world to know to be on the lookout for the opening of Melrose Place. It is going to be a hot spot, plus we will be offering free valet from 8am-4pm which is a rarity in Los Angeles.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
You definitely have to go to the beaches in Malibu. The drive is absolutely beautiful and they have a ton of outdoor activities and hiking trails to explore. They also have incredible food… a few of my favorites are Broad Street Oyster Co., Nobu Malibu, and Geoffrey’s. Hollywood is a must-see too. You have to walk the Hollywood Walk of Fame and check out the comedy clubs there. I also enjoy just driving all around Los Angeles, admiring the home designs and architecture of famous designers. There’s nothing like the homes we have here!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Surprisingly, I have not had a mentor in all of my years. It all has been a lot of trial and error. Although, I always find myself asking questions to notable people in the field of whatever business venture I am working on at the moment whether it’s hospitality, retail, etc. I try to surround myself with employees and partners that are knowledgeable about the industry, so, that usually provides me with a different outlook on how to do things.
