We had the good fortune of connecting with Eirini Nomikou and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eirini, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Balance is so important for our wellbeing and happiness. Being a freelance/self employed musician it is very tricky finding the right balance. Over time I have seen my self changing and growing and with that my balancing in life and work has changed. As you understand your self you realize that some thing are more important than others, you find the things that make you happy and make you feel full. Prioritizing these parts of your life is balance. I don’t think that there is a correct way of balance, as I also do not believe that balancing your work and personal life are two different things. Yes, they both have different aspects that add to that dynamic but at the end of the day your work is part of your personal life is YOUR LIFE! Writing a song is kinda similar to finding balance, you have to take all these different aspects (of a song or your life) and put them together in a harmonic pattern.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
This might sound cliche but music is my life. I don’t need something extreme to set me apart from others cause there is only one of me. I am being my self, honest, genuine and loving and I think that is what the world needs the most. We are consumed by social media, fake news and filters that make things look different than what they really are. My art, my songs and music is raw, real and honest. I just take who I am and put it in to lyrics and melodies. And I believe that this is what has gotten me to where I am today as a musician. Of course I had my ups and downs, but believing in myself and having people around me that believed in me is all I needed to keep going and over come any of my fears and challenges. What I’ve learned about the industry is that it’s very important to meet people and make connections. You create so many strong relationships and partnerships just by meeting people and each one of these open different doors. It is crazy how many amazing opportunities I’ve had just because I made some good friends.
Anyways, I can keep going on and on about all that, but at the end of the day just being my self and working hard towards my goals is what has got me to where I’m at.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
To be honest I’m still discovering spots around the city that excite me. But, if I was to plan the most fun week in LA I would definitely do: Surfing day in Malibu and food at Neptune’s Net.
Night out at Black Rabbit Rose, they have amazing live shows almost every night.
I do love good food so, my restaurant list is huge!!! Some really good ones are Irori sushi, Elephante and Little Fatty. Also Korean BBQ is a must!
Of course, you got to hit some of the museums in the area, they always have very interesting exhibitions and art shows.
Culver City is very pretty to go any time of the day, they have really cute cafes, restaurants and shops.
Sunday has to be shopping day at any vintage flea market.
I am very out going and I like adventures, so I think a lot of the activities would be day trips in nearby areas (San Diego, Santa Barbara etc), a lot of surf and skating spots and I would also add Six Flags and Disneyland in there!!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Literally everyone in my life deserves a little credit in my story. Of course my family, closest friends, my band and the people that I interact with on a daily basis play a huge role in who I am and how I’ve managed to balance my life. To be honest, these people don’t need to have their names called out. I try to show them every day how much I appreciate them and love them. I let them know that they deserve a lot of credit in my story. But, even the people that I might have had the slightest interaction with, they’ve been part of my lyrics, they have inspired me, they’ve given me different perspectives and opinions, they’ve made me think about my life and how I want to live. Every single experience, from movies, books, artists, countries, all of it is what has made me who I am. I am giving recognition and credit to every little and big influence of my life.
