We had the good fortune of connecting with Sierra Ramsey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sierra, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting Forever Vanity Makeup began with me wanting to find multiple ways to generate income that correlated with freelance makeup artistry.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The best way to describe my makeup artistry style would be “GLAM”. I love colorful & bold eyeshadow looks with huge wispy false lashes, bright under eye highlights, and a snatching contour.

What sets me apart from others would be that I don’t necessarily feel like I have to have everything perfectly aligned for me to accomplish my goals. Every time I set a goal for myself, I make a plan- then I gather the resources that are easily accessible to me. I don’t have time to ponder over what I need or don’t have at a given moment because that’ll only slow me down. I know that as long as I have faith and continue to put in hard work, I will be equipped with everything I need.

I got to where I am professionally by starting as a self-taught makeup enthusiast. I was dead set on never becoming a freelance makeup artist. I would turn down every potential client that would ask me for makeup services. At that time, I was too afraid to take that jump. I knew people would support me but I wasn’t sure if I was socially adept enough to take on a career path where I would literally be face to face with new people often.

It wasn’t easy to open up to people and it actually took me a while to but I got over my social anxieties by doing my makeup on Facebook live videos. I would invite my Facebook friends to watch me do my makeup and I would talk about everything from Makeup products & tips to love life to celebrity gossip. It made me grow more comfortable with talking to people and getting to know new people.

What I want the world to know about Forever Vanity Makeup is , we strive for love, feeling beautiful, and sensual & we stand for everything that makes us feel good about ourselves.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friends from back home were visiting Huntsville, we would definitely go day-drinking & shopping at Bridge Street. There’s live music, balloon twisters, a luxury cinema theater, a nice pond view, and things for the kids to do like train and carousel rides. The best restaurant to eat at Bridge Street is Agave & Rye Epic Tacos.

Other activities & places to visit would be Huntsville’s botanical gardens, the ice skating rink, the Harmony Park Safari, Parkway Place Mall, Monte Santo state park, the Space and Rocket Center.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom and sister both deserve to be recognized for their tremendous amount of love & support towards my efforts of becoming a business owner. They have encouraged me relentlessly and kept me afloat when I was drowning.
