Meet Sigal Erez | Writer, Director, Producer, and Actor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sigal Erez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sigal, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
One thing that outsiders are probably unaware of is how much work and details are behind the scenes. When you’re not in the industry you’re just used to seeing the completed picture no matter what it is. You don’t realize how many people are involved in executing every frame that you as a viewer sees on the screen. When you see a movie or a series or a play it all starts with an idea and the execution of that idea all begins with the writing of it. Once a story is written and rewritten and you feel it’s ready, you embark on a long process of number one getting feedback, number two planning how to execute that idea, whether you’re going to sell it, make it alone, get it auctioned etc. Each of those routes are long and difficult endeavours that all lead to the big picture on the screen.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I would like to think that what sets me apart from others would be my constant flow of original ideas. I don’t stick to one topic and because of my fruitful imagination I am always thinking outside the box. I am proud of my ability to take the smallest inspiration and turn into a well thought out story. I have always been a creative person and I used to write the plays from my schools, cast everyone, direct it, and act in it. Little did I know I was already creating a full production as a young teen. Coming to America to pursue my dream of making movies was very hard. I didn’t know anyone and had no connections. I got to where I am now because of my commitment to my dream and working hard to make things happen. To this day there are still challenges but finding ways to create things on my own and not wait on others has been one of the most important lessons I have learned. I want the world to know that you don’t need to be boxed into one category, you can be a multifaceted person no matter how much others may not want you to be. As long as you are respectful, have integrity, and humility you are in an open field of finding your passion and being around things you love.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start with breakfast at Casa Del Mar so they can get a feel of the coastal life in LA! After that we would bicycle around Marina Del Rey and drive them to my favorite spot which is Via De Las Olas, a street in the Pacific Palisades. It is one of the most magnificent views with gorgeous houses to your right. While in LA I obviously need to take them to the hotspots, Malibu and Beverly Hills. Personally I love the story of WIll Rogers so I would make sure to take them there and hear the story. I love the hotels around LA so we would have to check them out and have a tea time. A coastal drive to Palos Verdes is a must and even though it is outside of LA, we need to have a meal at the Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Beach.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my father and son for their constant support, love, and encouragement.
