We had the good fortune of connecting with Simon Capponi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Simon, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The Chalk Show was created over 2 years ago to showcase young up and coming artist on my social media platforms. With my experience in music, I was exposed to so many talented people who just wanted their music to be heard. I have seen alot of these artist fall away as their efforts were overlooked. I wanted to give these artists the opportunity to promote themselves via my social media presence that I had built up over these years. I felt that my platform has help so many people get themselves motivated and seen which has created some avenues and success. My interviews with these people are raw, heartfelt and uplifting that give these people hope in their music

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Creating a brand can be tough and then wanting people to believe in that brand is even tougher. I have always said that people need to find out who the real you is like before you can gain their trust. I let people into my world by not hiding anything and being straight up with them. There has been some tough times recently but I am more focused and driven coming out on top. With a recent brand and title change, this has had to be one of the hardest challengers for me as my Co-partner left the business after a tough decision.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in the thriving City of Leeds, UK and although I miss my home country of Australia, I did see opportunity of presenting my brand to the UK and world wide from this country easier. If I was visited by a friend I would show them the history and culture behind this country. Although most cities here have a historic feel, they have cleverly incorporated new urban and inivated aspects into these to create a modern feel.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shout to my support network which includes my family and friends who have always been real and supported me through this journey. I have made some poor choices but they have been there to point me in the right direction when things have got tough
