Meet Sir Marcell | Singer & Actor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sir Marcell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sir, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
My favorite affirmation is the phrase, ‘JUST LIVE’ which is tattooed on my left inner bicep. A phrase so simple, yet sometimes so difficult to do. With that affirmation I am reminded each and every day to just be and let things flow. To live my life in the moment and to the fullest at every point in time.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’d like to consider myself an all round entertainer but with a micro lens I am a singer, actor and creative mastermind. I would tell you my sound but I don’t believe in putting myself in a box sonically. I am an independent artist, so my proudest moment thus far would be my first EP which was released at the height of the pandemic in 2020, entitled ‘Pink Robe & a Durag.” I am proud of that body of work because it was the first time in a long time that I had re-ignited my love for music and was more than inspired to write from the heart. Being independent is not easy at all but somehow whenever my vision is able to come to life in some capacity through my own effort, I tend to feel a lot more proud and content in my achievement. In this journey, I am learning to find my voice and not allow outside voices dictate what i should look or sound like. I am learning to experiment and express myself without limit or fear. I am also learning to not rush the process and to allow myself find inspiration as i live my life so my art is informed, rather than force what is not there. Hence why a go a long time between projects. Honestly looking forward to putting out more music this year and getting more into acting, as soon as I am able to find balance in my everyday life. Until then, the world better watch out. Timing is everything!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am not the best tour guide, so usually i’d allow my friends the opportunity to do their own research on my city and figure out what exactly they would like to do or places they would like to visit specifically. Outside of that I am the friend to take you to brunch, bar hopping, and a night out in the clubs. I love to party!

I’d like to give a shoutout to my best friends and siblings for their constant support and motivation as i continue to pursue my art.
