We had the good fortune of connecting with Siranush and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Siranush, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m originally from Russia but ethnically I’m Armenian. I grew up with diverse culture. I’m bilingual and since my childhood, I was influenced by two cultures. I think it affected me a lot and I can’t really feel where my home is. I can easily move to another country and start a new life. I even like this feeling. I don’t feel myself fully Russian or fully Armenian. As a kid, I was influenced a lot by Western culture cause I would watch Hollywood movies, listen to American music. So I would feel like an outsider back in Russia. Moreover, I always knew that I will move to LA, and now I’m here. So yeah, all my background and cultural diversity made me who I am now.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been into music for 20 years. I started first as a classical pianist, and it was a huge part of my life. I was performing a lot and I won some competitions. As a teenager, I got inspired by Hannah Montana and I started writing my songs and dreaming about her life. No miracles happened, and I decided to take action. I moved to LA to study music production and music business. That’s how I started making my music. Now I produce my songs, and you can hear them on every platform. It wasn’t easy at all. Since the beginning, being a classical pianist is hard, especially when you’re doing it professionally. I would practice 9 hours a day. But every hard work pays off. I think I’m just used to this lifestyle and I’m very strong as a person. Also, I’m very stubborn and if I wanna get something, I’ll do everything to achieve it. I believe in my dreams and I work everyday to get closer to them. Nothing comes easy in life, you need to put some effort and believe in yourself. It wasn’t easy to start a completely new life when I was 21 and move to another country alone. But my biggest dream always keeps me motivated.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m not a big fan of crowded and loud places but I would definitely take my friend to a cute vegan place cause I’m vegan. We would go to the beach to enjoy the sunset and breeze. I love hiking, and it’s one of the things you need to do in LA. Also, I would take her to a concert or a movie theater cause I think American movie theaters are very authentic and one of a kind. Overall, there are lots of cool places and things to do in LA. Why I like LA is that it’s very diverse, everyone can find something to do. But my favorite place is a beach cause I’m from Russia, we don’t have an ocean, it’s still exotic for me.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents. They are my biggest support. They support all my crazy ideas, such as moving alone overseas, pursuing my music career. I wouldn’t be here without them, so yeah, it’s definitely my mom and dad.
