We had the good fortune of connecting with Skylar Young and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Skylar, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
my thought process was simple. I couldn’t be hired anywhere so i decided to put my career in my ow hands.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is built on the foundation of helping entrepreneurs turn hustle into sustainable success. What sets me apart is my focus on practical, actionable strategies that bridge the gap between passion and profitability. Through my book, Hustle Over Hype: The Hero’s Playbook, I provide real-world insights, systems, and ranking methods that empower business owners to scale effectively. My journey wasn’t easy—I started as a DJ and quickly realized the limitations of inconsistent income and lack of scalability. Transitioning into business required resilience, learning from failures, and developing structured approaches like the HERO’S Ranking System and HUSTLE SYSTEMS to streamline growth. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that success isn’t just about working hard—it’s about working smart, leveraging the right opportunities, and building relationships that create long-term value. I want the world to know that my brand is about more than just motivation; it’s a blueprint for those who are ready to take real steps toward financial freedom and business mastery.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d make sure they got the perfect mix of food, culture, business inspiration, and a little bit of luxury. On the first day, I’d pick them up from LAX and kick things off with brunch at République, known for its incredible pastries and classic LA brunch experience. Afterward, we’d head to Venice Beach to walk the boardwalk, check out Muscle Beach, and rent some bikes for a cruise down to Santa Monica. For dinner, we’d start the trip in style with oceanfront dining at Nobu Malibu.

The second day would be all about business inspiration, starting with breakfast at Blu Jam Café, followed by a visit to Soho Warehouse in DTLA to soak in the entrepreneurial energy and get some work done. In the afternoon, we’d hit iconic sneaker and fashion spots like Round Two and Union LA for some streetwear and business inspiration. Dinner at Bestia, one of LA’s top Italian spots, would be a must, followed by rooftop drinks at Perch for incredible city views.

On day three, we’d dive into LA’s culture and creativity, beginning with breakfast at Gjusta in Venice before spending the afternoon exploring the Getty Museum or LACMA. Dinner at Catch LA would offer amazing seafood and a chance to spot some celebrities, before heading to Highlight Room or The Nice Guy for drinks and a lively but upscale nightlife experience.

Day four would mix fitness and business. We’d kick things off with a workout at Bri Fit Fix Bootcamp, followed by a smoothie stop at Erewhon—because what’s an LA trip without an Erewhon visit? Then, we’d head to The ROW DTLA, a creative hub full of cool shops, co-working spaces, and trendy restaurants. Sunset drinks at Elephante in Santa Monica would lead into dinner at Bavel, known for its incredible Middle Eastern cuisine.

The fifth day would focus on luxury and relaxation, starting with a spa session at Burke Williams or The Beverly Hills Hotel Spa. The afternoon would be perfect for shopping at Rodeo Drive or Melrose, depending on their style, before a high-end dinner at Mastro’s Beverly Hills, featuring steak, seafood, and an elegant ambiance.

For the sixth day, we’d explore LA’s hidden gems and entertainment scene. A brunch at Grand Central Market would be followed by a walk through the Arts District, checking out street art and grabbing coffee at Verve Coffee Roasters. Depending on the season, we could hit a Lakers, Clippers, Rams, or Dodgers game or catch a live comedy show at The Laugh Factory. We’d wrap up the night with speakeasy-style cocktails at The Varnish or a stylish night out at Delilah.

Finally, on day seven, we’d keep things relaxed with a farewell breakfast at Malibu Farm Café, enjoying ocean views before heading to the airport. This itinerary blends the best of LA’s business energy, culture, food, and entertainment, ensuring my best friend leaves feeling inspired, well-fed, and already planning their next trip back!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
