We had the good fortune of connecting with Sofia Ianovskaia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sofia, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking

My name is Sofia Ianovskaia and I am excited to be interviewed for the Voyage LA again, this time for the Shout Out series.

For the last seven years, I had been offering Professional Reflexology and Sculptural Face Lift sessions at the Relaxation Station at Whole Foods Tarzana where I had amassed a large following.

I had my last Sculptural Face Lift and Reflexology client at the Relaxation Station on March 12th. I came home, and received a message from the California Massage Therapy Council stating that there would be no hands-on work until further notice due to COVID19.

I patiently waited another 3-4 days and then realized that it may take a while until I can start practicing again.  I went back to the Relaxation Station and packed all my stuff just in case it would be closed permanently at some point. The potential for this being a permanent reality kicked in.

So I came home and started thinking about what else I could do…..and then all of a sudden, the wheels started spinning….. my dream had always been to work from home, online, to give consultations, and to teach.  Then fate stepped in.

Almost immediately, the school where I had been teaching in person classes over the past four years (The Massage Center www.asmt.net) approached me and asked if I would be willing to teach online.  I said yes without blinking an eye.  Luckily, I already had all my power point presentations and tools prepared!  So I then started teaching almost every Saturday: Ear, Hand and Foot Reflexology, plus Medical terminology, Energy Balancing, and Face Reflexology online from home. My new dream was taking shape!

The next step I realized, is that I can teach all these wonderful subjects not only for Massage schools, but for the entire community.  I started advertising on Facebook and Instagram, and people were signing up for my classes!  I started teaching these classes weekly for private individuals. Things kept evolving and next came my biggest breakthrough.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

This big breakthrough came as result of having received regular The Emotion/Body Code/BodyTalk sessions from my colleague and close friend Gita Merritt for the past seven years. Due to my deep healing experiences in these sessions, I was always interested in learning this method and had signed up for Emotion Code Level I Certification at the end of December 2019.  (To learn more about the method, please follow the link to https://discoverhealing.com/ref/0081m/ )

When I first signed up, I was taking this course at my own pace and was not in any real hurry until it dawned on me that this could now become a full-time job/new profession for me, as it may take months before I could start practicing Reflexology hands-on again.  So, I brought myself up to speed with my student portfolio and received my Emotion Code Certification April 3rd, 2020. The most important concept of the method is releasing trapped emotions to allow more joy, health, and abundance and the beauty of this method, is that it allows me to work online with both people and animals.  I am able to tap into a client subconscious mind using muscle testing.  Trapped emotions can get stored anywhere in our body and drive unhealthy connections and behaviors, affect our immune system, and cause more physical and emotional pain.

The next day after receiving my Emotion Code Certification, I immediately enrolled to become The Body Code Practitioner.  I received my Body Code Practitioner Certification July 27th, 2020.  This allows me to work on a deeper level and also gives me the extra benefit of utilizing the unique The Body Code app.

I am proud to say that over the course of building my student portfolio, I went above and beyond by conducting more than 75 sessions.  I knew I had found my true passion.  There is no limit to the issues I can work with, and I can be anywhere to offer these sessions to people when they need help.

I recently started working with pregnant ladies who are afraid of going into labor.  We have been able to release fear of pain and fear stored from previous emergency labors, and voila – natural birth! It’s been quite miraculous!

I am also able to help newly expectant mothers with morning sickness.  Did you know that morning sickness is caused by disconnection between the brain of the mother and her growing fetus?

It is very important that the brain of the mother is connected to the fetus, to the umbilical cord, to the amniotic fluid, and to the placenta. Same goes for the fetus connection to the Mother.  Those things can happen when subconsciously a Mom to be is not fully ready to become a mother or consciously too.

During the Body Code session I am able to test this connection, release trapped emotions associated with the new experience, release the imbalance so mothers can feel better and truly connect to their babies.

In addition, I am now able to help little babies who have trapped emotions after just being born: the lights, appearing to this Earth, doctors, hospital environment, cutting the umbilical cord, going through birth canals – all of it is quite stressful for a new baby.

I also enjoy working with folks who have Emotional eating issues, weight release, inability to meet a partner, feeling stuck, allergies, asthma, breakup stress, depression, anxiety, etc.  You name it – The Emotion Code/Body Code can help.

The Body Code also works for animals.  How can this help pets?  Suppose you bring a new pet home from the shelter.  There is a reason why they ended up there and some of the trapped emotions which frequently come up are abandonment, terror and panic.  Most of the time, these emotions come from experiences with their previous owner.  Another thing that is common for animals is trapped emotions which get stuck after fireworks.  As many of us have experienced scared animals on the fourth of July!  It is a very traumatic experience for them.  I recently worked with two dogs traumatized by it.  One of them was constantly barking and the other one was urinating in the apartment all the time.  After these emotions had been cleared – their behavior went back to normal.

This is the risk I took during COVID19-20.  It was my leap of faith.  The virus was a test of my ability to adjust and transform.  I know many who have been affected by it and only look at it as one major negative experience.  While this situation has been tragic for many, I looked for silver lining….it allowed me to expand, evolve and grow.  Showing me the many ways I can share my healing modalities with others.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to Zuma Westwards Beach and Sunset restaurant. I love taking very long walks there with my husband every weekend.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to Gita Merritt. I would not have become a Certified Emotion&Body Code Practitioner without her.
