We had the good fortune of connecting with Sofiia Robinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sofiia, what do you attribute your success to?
Most important thing that helped me to get where I am today is believing in my idea and to be all in with it.
What should our readers know about your business?
Back in 2018 I created a helicopter tour company “Level Up Tours”. I lived in United States for two years at that time. I moved to Los Angeles without knowing English, but I had so much ambition. I surrounded myself with locals, so I picked up the language really quickly. I saw a lot of opportunities in front of me. I always had love for Hip Hop culture. We have a lot of Hip Hop history in LA. And I had a desire to show it to people. I figured a tour bus is too basic, and I decided to use a helicopter instead. So, I created a Hip Hop helicopter tour that flies over Hip Hop landmarks of Compton and the Los Angeles area. I had a lot of difficulties along the way. One of them was another tour company. The owner didn’t like to see our stand on Hollywood Boulevard. He came with a real gangster attitude and threatened my tour guide. Some people said I should just give up and don’t put myself, my tour guides, and my clients in danger. I found out if you are not affiliated with certain gangs in the area, that it would be hard to start a company like this. After a few months of finding a solution, someone introduced me to one of the most religious people I’ve ever met. He turned out to be one of the founders of a major gang. He called a shot and quickly fixed the problem. Since then, my company has been doing well and gaining popularity with Hip Hop fans and regular tourists as well.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would recommend my friend to stay at the historical Biltmore Hotel in DTLA. Then, I would definitely take my friend on a helicopter ride and show him around the city. For dinner, we go out to eat at Cavatina restaurant. Our day would end with a stop at my friend Risk’s art gallery.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband J-Ro from legendary group “Tha Alkaholiks”. He is my husband, friend and part of the company. J-Ro is always supporting my creative ideas and never let me down.
