We had the good fortune of connecting with Solace and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Solace, what do you attribute your success to?
I think there are a few keys pieces but the main one I have to say is God. I have an amazing team (The Cafeteria Line) but I prayed for that team months before I met or knew of them. I am consistent but again, that’s God too, so yeah.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It’s funny because I was just having this conversation with my management. It’s not that I didn’t know that I was different but I was wanting to switch my sound a bit and they gave me some wisdom. While it’s okay to try new things, don’t shy away from the thing you’re brilliant at, if that makes sense. I would say my music is a fusion of sounds but the ones that stick out are folk, indie, and r&b. What I gathered from that conversation was that I need to hone in on what comes naturally. So I would say I’m learning to lean into myself more and my brilliance, which I think we all have some sort of brilliance. I guess I’d want the world to walk away from hearing my music with my name, solace.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am probably the most boring person to exist (laughs). So this is going to be quick. I LOVE being at home. Even with guests. Like I’m the friend who has the artsy place that’s super cozy. I like to cook dinner/breakfast and let’s just do little things like go to the movies or brunch. I’m the relaxed friend. I water my plants, you lounge on the couch and we talk about and share our lives. However, if my friend must get out, I’d go to downtown Houston. There’s always something popping off down there and the food is amazing.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Man shoutout to the team, The Cafeteria Line! Shout out TiRon&Ayomari. Shoutout Trey Graves. And shoutout Emawk.
