Meet Sonia Dali | Singer, Songwriter, Producer & DJ

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sonia Dali and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sonia, what are you inspired by?
What inspires me greatly are nature, emotions, and the human experience, as well as art and beauty. Growing up in Paris, I was surrounded by centuries of culture and art that were created and upheld due to the necessity of being around beauty. Day-to-day life often leads us to get caught up in the rhythm of actions, causing us to overlook such beauty, emotions, growth, and loss. However, when I meditate or take a walk on the beach, I can break free from this repetitive cycle of living.
There’s a distinction between merely being alive and living. When we are alive, the vibrations, energy, and the simple essence of each breath can transform into a specific note, lyric, or melody. Singing and creating music become my response to life, serving as my muse and a continuous inspiration when allowed.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Growing up, I truly fell in love with soul and jazz. When writing or listening to my work, there are specific requirements or checkpoints influenced by these genres. As a result, my music possesses a different complexity and sound than expected.
My accent in speech and song is a unique blend of French, British, and now American influences. Traveling extensively and leaving my country has provided me with a unique perspective on self-expression, especially concerning departure from loved ones and yearning to return to a place that may no longer exist.
My upcoming track, “Home,” set to release this summer, exemplifies these experiences. It delves into my travels, departure, and the beautiful journey of discovering home within oneself.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would begin by taking them for a cocktail and a bite at Elephanté in Santa Monica, which offers one of the best views of the ocean in LA. Following that, we’d drive around at Sunset Blvd. and visit one of the classic venues to listen to upcoming artists.
Next, we’d take Mulholland Drive (in honor of one of my favorite directors) all the way to the top to enjoy the gorgeous views of the beautiful city.
Finally, we’d end our trip in Malibu for sunset. There’s a tiny spot around the bend of the coast that’s perfect for sipping on a cocktail and watching the sunset over the ocean.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
After moving and re-building my career from London to Los Angeles I was grateful enough to have such support industry from the music industry. My shoutouts goes to Adam Owett from Sony Music and Brandon Friesen co-founder of Blue Cadillac music. A solid support system and foundation of people who believe in you is a magic that grows and grows catapulting you into making your dreams a reality. Lastly I would like to shoutout to loudboy Music. His generosity, friendship and immense support in various sectors of whats needed to be successful in this industry has gone above and beyond. I wouldn’t be where I am today without him. Without any of them.
