Meet Sonny Kruger | Writer/Actor/Director/Podcast Host

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sonny Kruger and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sonny, what do you attribute your success to?
Staying determined and disciplined along with my Faith and support from loved ones and friends.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
With writing, I have many stories like the “Dead” and “Positive” trilogies, “Tied Up”, “I Love The Dead”, “To Be Alive And Desired”, “Fugue”, “The Android And The Being”, my banned story “Killing Set In Motion”, and “A Series About A Series”. I’ve always had ideas in my head for movies and T.V. shows but didn’t have the money to make them so I decided to write them into stories. I lived in Wisconsin for a few years, but when I returned to Chicago to live with my fiance, Maria, I decided to dive deep into the filmmaking industry. I did by working as an extra/stand-in on shows like “Fargo”, “Chicago Med”, and “Next” while working on some indies and going to meet-ups. Quickly, I saw a story in my head and knew it would be the story I made into a series of my own. This would become “A Series About A Series”. I could write a whole book on the making of the pilot of “A Series About A Series” but eventually with determination, discipline, Faith, and the help of family, friends, and other talented colleagues in the industry Episode 1: Pilot of “A Series About A Series” was completed and posted on YouTube. Years ago while watching T.V. with my dog/brother Dexter, I told him one day I would make a show and we would watch it together. With the pilot of my series, a dream had come true, and not only did we watch it together, but he and my mother had a cameo in episode 2 a few months before his passing. One thing I’ve learned while chasing my many dreams is to remember to take a moment to step back, take everything in, and enjoy life. Enjoy the chase of the dream and those with you along the way. You are going to have to make sacrifices if you want to make your dreams come true. Ask yourself “Is it worth it?”. For me, the answer is always yes, and that separates me from most people. Most aren’t willing to give up parties, sleep, vacations, relationships, free time, and many other things for their dreams. I am, and I put my heart and soul into my works. Those who know me and read my work can tell there is a bit of me in all of the stories I’ve made. I hope to entertain and inspire the world with my work. It’s a dream I am happy to chase.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to a Rock concert, eat at some local Mexican restaurant, drink plenty of water, and just hang out. Honestly, I don’t get out much unless it’s to work on my series or go to a meet-up. . . which is usually to make connections for my series.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many who help me along the way, which is why credits are very important, but I will definitely give a shoutout to my fiance and my mother. I am able to do what I do because of them.
