We had the good fortune of connecting with Speed Walton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Speed, what do you want your legacy to be?
I want my legacy to be about perseverance. I want my love for the music and the art form to speak to my dedication to the craft and culture. I want to be legendary in not only in the music world but as a overall creator/ artist and help heal people feeling like things in their world will never get better I’m here to let people know by being a testimony things do get better when you change your mindset and put every ounce into whatever your passion may be.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what sets me apart from most artist these days is the actual time I put in to craft the music from a thought out of thin art to the music, lyrics, art direction I’m usually hands on with everything. Where I’m from Cincinnati, Ohio (Midwest region) also separates me from most artist my country accent, slang, voice, the pockets I choose to use on beats and me not caring to be myself and just being confident in what I’m doing let’s me create music from a free and genuine place I think that can be heard from the music and music lovers connect I’m a fan of the culture at the end of the day I really just love what I do it’s my therapy. The Road in the industry hasn’t been a easy one many just trying to find a outlet to get my ideas out to share to the world just trying to put all my attention on the music with my everyday life in ohio going on sometimes just really feel like the city had a black cloud of negativity over Ohio the state in general. Many obstacles and road blocks on the road to success but I feel that always make for a better story in the end to know I had to get it out the mud I didn’t have musical connections or family in the industry I just had to figure out the few artist from where I’m from who made it out never looked back and extended a hand to the hometown to build a tunnel of opportunity for others hopefully I can change that when I’m in full position it’s a goal of mine I feel I’m a vessel/ messenger with this time I have on earth it’s my duty to inspire and bless as many people as I can and spark the new renaissance.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m from ohio but I live in LA now been here a little two years I’m still learning the city to be honest but since being here I have some favorite spots that I like to show people.

For food I love “Griddle Cafe” my favorite food of the day is breakfast food they have the biggest and most flavor selection of pancakes and the French toast goes crazy also “Salsa & Beer” (I don’t drink) but that’s the name of the spot food is amazing lol That’s for Mexican food it’s a hidden gem in the valley I even put some of my LA native friends on to that spot.

Some places I like to take people to a place I like to go show people is a place where I go zen out and meditate at called “ Sunken City” one of my favorite spots in San Pedro, SuihoEN The Japanese Garden and also it’s a overlook in studio city I like to go to smoke and see the lights at night time and of course all the beaches they all have different vibes so whatever I’m feeling like I just hit a different beach hit the marathon cultivation for some cannabis if not there hit up iLyfted or cookies. And I forgot I really like Joshua Tree as well it’s a lot of spots I like going I usually remember them in the moment randomly. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I think it takes a village to raise a kid that’s the ideology still holds true to build true character so it’s so many people to give credit to for any of the success I have had in this lifetime. But if I had to choose off the top on my brain I would say my grandma or as we call her. Big Ma and she always showed me to just be my authentic self and to show my vulnerability but also tell it how it is and I think a lot of the shaped me as a Man and helped me as artist how I actually approach my music. She always told me if I was going to rap actually have some real shit to say and to keep it honest so I try my best to incorporate all that in my music so it’s a genuine interpretation into my mind while also trying to keep it entertaining to a world who attention span is getting shorter and shorter as technology gets “smarter” it’s also a book one of my best friends Charles “Beataholic” Reynolds gave me called “ The Four Agreements” that book really hit home and put things I knew but sometimes due to emotions and other factors slip our consciousness it reply just put things in to perspective for me on my approach to life and made it simple and straight to the point so I feel anyone from any walk of life would be able to relate to and feel so they can take something from that book and apply it to their life. And of course my mom she always worked hard to get us what I wanted and I really do appreciate all the grind she put in to help keep us afloat even without my dad being around.
