Meet Stacy Armand Patterson | Wedding + Event Designer | Fashion Stylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stacy Armand Patterson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stacy, how do you think about risk?
I think taking the risk of going down the path of entrepreneurship, not having a stable job, or not knowing what each day or month is going to look like has definitely been scary, challenging, yet extremely rewarding, all at the same time. I had to step out of my comfort zone and become more confident in myself and the decisions I make. I have to constantly remind myself that l’m on the right path, doing what I love, and that I have the freedom to work towards my dreams and goals as a business owner.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Stacy Armand Events is a New York based Luxury Wedding and Event Design Company.
In addition, as Fashion Stylists, we are commissioned to do fashion shoots and editorials for Fashion Photographers, Brands and Small businesses.
I think what sets me apart from others is that there are no limits on what I can create. If I can envision it, I can make it happen — I run wild with the depths of my imagination. My strong fashion sensibilities bring a fresh, modern feel to my designs and styling. I’m excited when working with clients who have the same freedom — freedom to freely create in a non traditional way.
I am a true love story enthusiast. When I meet a wedding couple or a celebration client, I am drawn to all the details that tell their story. Before all else, the story is the canvas and the foundation from which I create. I love creating beautiful and heartfelt experiences that tell a story – The Story – I strive for my work to speak for me without me uttering a word.
It’s rather simple to pinpoint how I got to where I am today professionally, and the source of my love for design. Growing up my mother had a keen eye for interior design. She enjoyed curating beautiful rooms with novel pieces of furniture or décor. Like these rooms, I found myself in awe of everything designed beautifully.
Fashion entered my world by way of television, by various different runway shows, costume designs, and my mother’s monthly subscriptions to interior design magazines. I also had an obsession with musicians, music videos, production and performances. I was fixated on Artists like Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, & Madonna (to name a few). It was magical! During college, this love of design led me to fashion. After Graduating in 2006 with a degree in psychology, I jumped into the industry by way of visual merchandising at establishments like H&M and Express, then by diving into television & film production. I also worked on a slew of commercials for brands like Aquafresh and Toyota. I styled celebrity clients, shot fashion editorials, and created full production fashion shows. I am always looking for, and to create, an experience! Cultivating concepts and beautifully executing them are my passion.
In 2015, my love for details and exquisite experiences led me to event design, which is when Stacy Armand Events was born. Over the last couple of years, I’ve been using my love of design to create both large and intimate events — marrying creative experiences and the uniqueness of each client to curate signature events.
Some of the lessons I learned along the way is that no one personality is like another. No client/vendor will have the same thought process or approach, and being able to work with distinctive tastes, thought processes and family dynamics is key. I think being a business owner, you are always learning. Every event teaches you a lesson. The biggest lesson I’ve learned so far is to believe in yourself and know your worth. If you manifest that, you will attract the right clients.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
After a long day of traveling, I would start off with a day of pampering. We’d probably enjoy a tailored massage and wellness experience at QC Spa on Governors Island, followed by dinner at GITANO Island, with sweeping views of NYC.
Another option would be The Metropolitan Museum of Art and/or The Whitney Museum, followed by a stroll on The Highline, then off the check out the pleasantly psychedelic floating park, Little Island. The views are spectacular. To end — dine at Market 57, a kiosk dining experience along the Hudson River at pier 57th
If you are a foodie like me, check out another kiosk dining overload at Smorgasburg (Williamsburg/Prospect Park) on the weekends. Followed up by an ELEVATED MOVIE EXPERIENCE AT NITEHAWK CINEMA.
Lastly who doesn’t love wine with a view?! Here are some of my favorite spots to enjoy a cocktail and the sunset:
* Magic Hour Rooftop Bar & Lounge at Moxy Times Square.
* Azul at hotel Hugo
* Loopy Doopy Rooftop Bar

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost God! my husband and my daughters, my best friend, my core intimate group of friends, & my parents. This group of people are my backbone and my support system in most of my decisions. That’s not to say that it’s been easy to get them on board. My parents were the hardest. I think a lot of Haitian-American creatives can attest to this. Half the battle of your success is getting your parents to understand and see your vision — leading that creative entrepreneur lifestyle. It took years to show them how successful I was in Fashion Styling and then Event Design, but since they came aboard, they’ve been in my corner, encouraging me every step of the way. My mom actually wants to retire as a nurse and come work for Stacy Armand Events. I’ve also been blessed with some amazing friends who have been there for me, encouraged me, listened to me vent, and most importantly believed in me — sometimes more than I have believed in myself.
