Meet STAVE

We had the good fortune of connecting with STAVE and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi STAVE, what do you attribute your success to?
I will start off by saying that while I am very proud of where I am now and the progress that I have made over the years, I still have a ways to go. The most important factor behind my growth as a musician, which can be applied beyond music as well, has been consistency. Consistency in practice, production and content creation has been crucial. At the heart of my musical journey is the desire to reach as many people as I can and hopefully evoke the same emotions I felt listening to my favorite artists growing up. Staying true to yourself as an artist and trusting your journey in finding your sound is key.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I began my music journey with a Casio keyboard my parents got me when I was three years old. After realizing I wouldn’t get off it, my parents decided to give me a few piano lessons. Fast forward a few years, I earned a classical performance diploma and was a member of a Carnegie Hall Youth Ensemble. However, I grew tired of playing classical music and spent countless hours composing random songs on the piano, wondering what they would sound like as actual songs. So, I taught myself music production back when YouTube was just starting up. I never really showed anyone my work until 2020, when I made a TikTok account to post lighthearted videos of my music to cheer people up during a dark time.
That decision changed my life. After my first viral video, I realized there could be an audience for my music. This led to collaborations with artists like Sia and partnerships with brands I could never have anticipated. I am so excited for what’s to come, as I believe there is something profound about music; it is a uniting force. I hope to one day have my songs reach and impact people the way my idols have done for me.
I really want to change the game in music, and incorporate live piano with progressive/tropical house in a really impactful way. There is an unparalleled magic in live performances; each one is a unique and ephemeral moment, never to be experienced in the same way again. It is truly a beautiful phenomenon.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
gotta show em around manhattan and brooklyn! we’d spend the days strolling the many parks this city has to offer, and the nights out in my favorite spots!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to thank all my friends for really being there since day one. Given that I don’t get the support from family, it truly means a lot to me to have you all believe in me and my music career. You know who you are, You really do keep the lights on and keep me going.
