We had the good fortune of connecting with Stella Cher Lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stella Cher, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued an artistic/creative route because this was the only way to unapologetically express myself. I never saw myself in the corporate industry but maybe that’s also because I’ve always been a dreamer. The dreams I’ve had growing up never stopped growing. The desire to figure out who I am, what I’m meant for on this Earth all came crashing down on me one day. When I had graduated fresh out of college, I lost a lot of ambition and hope due to burn out mentally, physically and spiritually. Throughout the next 3 years, I had taken on countless jobs that made me question life as a whole. I was extremely unhappy. But then one day, I received news from my job at the time that the business was no longer going to be operating. Instead of feeling panic, I felt reassured. For the first time in my life, I felt the taste of true freedom. Taking some time to myself, I had this itch to dig deeper and see what potential I could bring to the table. Fast forward to today, I am choosing this career path as a singer, content creator, nail and makeup artist because this is my happy place. At the end of it all, I want to proudly say I lived a fulfilling life.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I would say what sets me apart from others is that I am a “one woman band” when it comes to creating and bringing it to fruition. I can proudly say that I have created all my content (vlogs, music videos, reels), nails and makeup looks by myself. Musically, I am most proud of my EP “2:22” that was released on October 22, 2022. This would not have happened without the support of my producer and friend, Dante Juhkel and production team, InHouseAndCompany. I’ll admit I’m naturally an overthinker and a perfectionist, so staying consistent and motivated was definitely a huge challenge for me. Luckily I was able to overcome that through patience and kindness towards myself to move forward and take it one step at a time. Some lessons I’ve learned along the way being a varied artist is that perfection does not exist. Art is a form of expression isn’t it? Have fun with the process even if it’s challenging. It’s all about the mindset–mind over matter. One other lesson I learned was to not be afraid of exploring. It sounds a bit silly but you’d be surprised on how often us humans hold back because it is a vulnerable moment.

Overall, I’m excited to share new music, makeup related projects, and a future website launch for my press on nails.

Lastly, I want the world to know what my purpose is and that’s to entertain, encourage and educate those around me. By being a part of different communities, I’m able to share my story and spread inspiration throughout.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Considering where I live (the Los Angeles area), there is so much to do. For the morning, I would take them to a nice coffee shop or a brunch spot. For the afternoon, we would go sight seeing by a scenic area such as the beach, city or neighborhood around there. For the nighttime, we would be living it up in Downtown LA or Koreatown either bar hopping or trying out a new fancy restaurant. If there’s some type of music event or an artist we want to see, we will most definitely be at a venue dancing and singing. Other days of the week, it would be a similar routine or different activities throughout the day such as mini golfing, going to a Dodger’s baseball game, or discovering a museum. No matter how minor or major the activity is, the most fun, interesting and exciting thing about it is that we are making memories together.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I wanted to give a shout out to those that are closest to me: my sister, hometown friends, and boyfriend. Thank you for always accepting and allowing me to freely be…me. I also wanted to give a shout out to Dante Juhkel, a wonderful and talented producer, rapper and songwriter. Thank you for always encouraging and challenging me as a friend and mentor. Last but not least, I wanted to shout out God. Yes, cliche I know but… without His guidance and confirmation, I would not be where I am today.
