We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Gerard and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephanie, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Because it’s in my blood! Since I can remember I always wanted to sing and act and I knew the path wasn’t going to be easy but I decided to follow my dreams and fight for them!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Going into the show business is hard. But I have it in my blood and I can’t just quit something that I’ve always dreamed of. My path has been rough but amazing at the same time. There’s been times when I think I’m going to quit and forget it all but then something happens and I keep on going. Music career: I released 9 albums in Mexico without the support of a record label and I made it to the top selling record list. I toured and sang in a lot of places. I made a tribute to the Beatles (my inspiration) and not only did I get the approval for my album but also a congratulatory letter from Paul McCartney for my work. I’m very proud of everything I accomplished. Acting career: I acted in soap operas and movies in Mexico and I moved to Los Angeles because I wanted to do movies in Hollywood, but the path has been really tough as well. When you move to the US from another country you don’t realize all the paperwork you’re going to need to be able to work here. I got my parents support to make it happen and now I have a live tv show everyday from Monday through Friday for the US as a tv host and I enjoy it very much as well. I do my animal rights activism as well on my social media which I love doing, I practice yoga everyday and both of these have become my day to day as well.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would pick my friend up at the airport and go directly to a yoga class (obviously) after that I would take her to an animal sanctuary to visit the animals and then to O’Cado for lunch. Take her to Hollywood Blvd for a stroll, and do an Escape room. Then go to the Griffith Observatory and the Hollywood sign. Then we would be hungry again from all that walking so we would go to Pura Vita on Santa Monica Blvd in West Hollywood to grab a bite. After that we could go to The Grove and maybe catch a movie. After we could go to Venice beach and take a walk by the beach and watch the sunset and then go have some vegan pizza at Double Zero and have a glass of wine for a perfect ending. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ve been incredibly blessed with a wonderful mom. So my shoutout goes to my mom. She has made me the person I am today and has taught me how to be loving and compassionate. Without her support I wouldn’t be where I am today. Also my life changed when I went vegan, and I went vegan when I saw Paul McCartney’s video “If slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be a vegetarian”. So thank you Paul for opening up my eyes! And for all the amazing music you’ve made that has inspired my life!
