We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Griffith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephanie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The idea really came from a moment of pure emotion. I remember getting into bed one night, feeling overwhelmed and almost in tears, realizing that my favorite sheets, the ones I had slept on for nearly 20 years, were no longer being made. I just couldn’t accept that. I knew I had to do something, or I might never sleep the same again. So, I started researching and eventually found a manufacturer who could help me recreate them. When I told my husband I was placing a production order for 1,000 sets in queen and king sizes, he thought I was crazy, but at least, he joked, we’d never run out of my favorite sheets again.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
There’s nothing formulaic or mass-market about BleuBully Bedding. The brand was born from a personal obsession: creating the perfect sleep experience through bedding that’s soft, reliable, and actually good for you. I took a huge leap of faith not just in the product, but in myself and brought this vision to life because I couldn’t find anything on the market that matched what I needed.

What sets us apart is our material: we use 100% modal, a natural fiber derived from the Beech tree. While most bedding brands rely on bamboo which is less expensive, I chose modal because it’s what I believed in and what helped me finally sleep well again. If BleuBully had been created just to chase profits, it wouldn’t exist. This is personal. I know I’m not alone, when my favorite sheets disappeared, I found a Reddit community of over 40,000 people who were searching for the exact same comfort. That’s when I knew this was bigger than just me.

As for challenges…where do I start? Starting a business is tough. It demands adaptability, problem-solving, and the ability to wear every hat in the room. There’s no playbook, no guaranteed path. It’s not for the faint of heart or anyone looking for a predictable 9-to-5. But I’ve learned that clarity of purpose and relentless grit go a long way. I’m proud of where we are today, thousands of units sold, happy customers, and the kind of loyal following you can’t manufacture.

What I want people to know is simple: BleuBully Bedding wasn’t built to follow trends. It was built to fix a very real problem, with the kind of quality and care that sleep deserves. Once you experience the difference, you’ll never want to sleep on anything else.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of the best things about Los Angeles is how close it is to the desert, my absolute favorite place to escape to. Within just a couple of hours, I can be surrounded by open skies, quiet landscapes, and the grounding energy of nature. This is exactly why I traded the city for sunshine and serenity in La Quinta, a beautiful little corner of the Coachella Valley near Palm Springs. If my best friend came to visit me, here’s exactly how I’d show them what a true desert dream week looks like:

We’d start with coffee at Yes Please, pickleball or golf at PGA West, and pool time at The Sands, followed by a magic show at Marvyn’s and dinner at Kiki’s. We’d spend a day shopping and brunching on El Paseo, relaxing at Tommy Bahama’s pool, and dining at Porta Via. Another day would be all about Old Town La Quinta—boutiques, brunch, and a spa afternoon at Miramonte or La Quinta Resort, ending with tacos at Adobe Grill. We’d take a day trip to Joshua Tree for hiking, art, coffee at Joshua Tree Coffee and lunch at Crossroads Café, then return for dinner at RD RNNR. In Palm Springs, we’d bring our dogs for a pet friendly brunch at Boozehounds, visit Moorten Botanical Garden, shop Trina Turk, sip cocktails at The Parker, and dine at Workshop. The week would end with the Old Town Farmers Market, brunch at Wilma & Frieda, some thrifting, sushi at The Venue, and drinks at Seymour’s or Bar Cecil.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mom, without a doubt. When I placed the initial production order for 1,000 sheet sets, I was also in the midst of a full home renovation. Looking back, it was probably one of the least ideal times to take a major risk on a completely new business venture. The stress of launching a brand while managing a remodel was intense, but my mom was there through it all. She took on countless roles acting as a contractor, customer support lead, and emotional anchor. Her support was truly invaluable. I wouldn’t be here today, having sold over 3,000 bedding units and enjoying both a thriving business and a beautifully finished home, without her.

I’d be remiss not to mention our namesake and beloved mascot – my dog Gigi. She’s a 15-pound French Bulldog who somehow manages to take up half of our king-size bed. Through every twist and turn of launching a business and remodeling a home, Gigi has been by my side, offering snuggles, support, and more than a little inspiration. In fact, without her, BleuBully may never have existed – or had such irresistibly cute branding.

In honor of Gigi and in response to the increasing challenges facing bulldog breeds in the U.S., I’ve committed a portion of our sales to supporting animal shelters. I’m deeply passionate about backing the dedicated people who work tirelessly to care for our pets and protect animals in need. When you purchase a set of BleuBully sheets, you’re not just investing in better sleep – you’re also helping to fund trusted, hard-working shelters across the country.
