We had the good fortune of connecting with Steve Golden Triangle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Steve, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Anything worth having involves risk. And when you’re at the bottom you usually have nothing to lose. So as long as you’re betting on yourself and apply discipline and consistency to your craft, it’s just a matter of time until you figure it out. Most successful people have failed more times than most people have even tried. I would say don’t allow fear to be the reason that’s stopping you from trying.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Starting out as a teen I came from an average family struggling to make ends meet. I got involved in slanging mostly weed and ecstasy as a teen to help provide for my family scaling it to $100,000 by 19 only to be setup, arrested, and sentenced to two years in prison. While locked up I thought a lot and wanted to make a plan to I don’t repeat or return back to prison. The idea of art never stood out to me until I saw so many inmates do tattoos to survive and make money. My mindset was “ if they can do great work with minimal resources and skills. Imagine what I could do with art skills and good resources.”

After released I became obsessed with tattooing and went all in practicing everyday. I later paid for an apprenticeship only to be fired within one year and forced to be on my own again. Which lead me to opening my own studio which is known today as Golden triangle Art Studio in upland California.

10 years later, We are currently one of the largest tattoo studios in Southern California home to over 20+ artist. I strongly believe the success of my tattoo career and the studio is because we serve first and treat everyone with respect and appreciation. No one has to choose us, so when they do we show gratitude with our actions. The word of mouth referrals snow ball and built our brands reputation and trust allowing us to continue to grow over the years.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Most likely if someone were to visit us we would be planning the a tattoo so we would be spending a day or two at the studio. But if we were to be hanging out I’m more of a home body and enjoy the peace and quiet comfort of home. We would probably grab some sushi or tacos and catch up and have some good conversation about our future plans and goals. Basically a mini business meeting and plan a checkin a few months later to hold each other accountable. Besides that I’m pretty simple and boring trying to avoid night life, drinking, or anything else that can get me into trouble. I’m the wrong person to hangout with but the right person to plan strategically with.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The beginning is always the hardest because very few people believe in you. Including yourself. I would like to thanks everyone that gave me a chance to work with them. I’d also like to thank my friends and family for the unconditional support they gave me. They are my “why”
