We had the good fortune of connecting with Steven Harrison and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Steven, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
It was to give people who are scrolling my page original and fresh content because we all want and need entertainment. Planning is crucial in life but risks are important too. You can learn about yourself from that and that’s how you grow but if you help someone also, it pays off more. That is more important than money. If my shows make you laugh or help you, i’m satisfied. Try new things but prepare for anything.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I want my comedy to be timeless. I didn’t set out to be an artist but I am borrowing art forms. I love that I represent small towns for stand up that produced stars like Trevor Moore from Charlottesville or Ken Jeong in North Carolina. Being on your own on stage as a comic isn’t always easy, but a beautiful risk and you have a ball doing it. It also helps my memory as well which I always try to work on developing that like you do motor skills. My biggest accomplishments are starting my own entertainment company that people call original, producing my own stand up comedy album, music and soon film. It isn’t easy all while making money, being a partner and uncle while getting sober which i’ve been for almost three years now. Just don’t quit on yourself, have fun and trust you can move mountains. Listen too. Life is short. Check out small towns too like a brewery comedy show for obscure gems. I’ve seen stars in small bars before they blew up but you felt the energy. You just never know.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For me growing up in the mountains, I was spoiled with nice land to go to. I would take them on hikes that aren’t on Yelp, to my favorite brewery or stand up mic in that area and road trip the rest of the time. If i’m not on the move once a month, I kind of feel empty. City life is always good if there is time. A city is usually known for a type of food like NYC is pizza or Philly is cheesesteaks. I’ll probably also be lost in a record shop in no time while there. Or a history museum.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My best friends JD & Zak, comedians Luca Jones and Nica, my parents, Liz my sister and her family and my vivacious better half Brandi
