We had the good fortune of connecting with Steven Oriee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Steven, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
My creative side started at a young age. My parents notice around the age of six I would watch movies and recite whole scenes back to them as performance. That’s when they thought lets put him in acting and see what happens. Booked a gig that would’ve taken my family to NYC at the same time my dad was accepted into the training academy for law enforcement and my parents thought it would be best to follow that route instead and not go to NYC. After we moved to a new city away from family my parents put me in a summer theater program where I would get used to being on stage in plays and musicals. Flash forward going into high school finding a way to fit in and belong I used my theater training and became a cheerleader. My high school didn’t have a drama program. I was a cheerleader from my sophomore year to senior, then two extra yrs in college. Once that ended I auditioned for Hairspray at Moorpark College which to led to me starting a whole focus on theater as my major. After Hairspray I was able to be In musicals like Hair, Little Shop of Horrors, Monty Python’s Spamalot as well a Clue The Musical starring as Mr. Green. From there I moved into a community theater with the production of Bring it On the Musical. Today I work at Warner Bros. as a tour guide. This position is amazing because we are unscripted, we are trained with amazing amounts of info and we customize and focus each tour to each different guest. These tours can last up to two hours so a fully improv tour connecting with guests is definitely a thrill. Aside from the Day Job I manage my Youtube Channel and Twitch Channel. My love for Video games and Community has given me all types of ways to be creative in graphic and sound design for the stream all while entertaining. When I can and have the Opportunity I still like to act for Tv/Film and Musical theater, Being able to produce my own content definitely feeds my creative head and keeps me grounded. I’m no cinematographer or director but I do love being able to film the ideas I have in my head. Telling stories has always been a part of who I am.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I work as a tour guide at Warner Bros. and the cool thing about the job is my tours are always different. We are fully unscripted and we try to customize each to tour to the guests needs. We have 14 people on the tour cart so when each person has a different favorite show or movie the pressure to deliver is on. We do about 4 tours total a day lasting about an hour long each. I Also give a longer tour lasts two hours in time which is more in depth and the guests get to see a bit more on tour. I am also a media trained guide where I have participated in giving tours while being featured on camera as well as being a part time supervisor. This job has it easy moments but it definitely keeps you on your toes. Each tour and tour group is like a new audience for one man show. If I could I would love to give a full tour on Horror movies that filmed on the or Musicals that filmed on the lot. From time to time the tour departments hosts a film festival where I’ve entered a few entries. This job has really taught me how to ask the right questions, learn your audience and essentially read the room. It’s a thrill to be able to deliver what these guests want to see in the time frames I get.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Ricci Bester-Adams, She and I met during a makeup coarse in college and we hit it off. Time goes by and the world shut down due the pandemic. Ricci and I got close by watching movies over zoom literally all day everyday during that time period. We have been great friends for years now. I knew starting my twitch I needed a moderator and Ricci became that moderator. She’s a Joy to the stream and is always there when I need her. She is a fellow Actress and Business owner herself so with me managing my online merch store for twitch I turn to her when I need advice or help with upcoming product and graphic designs.

Bailey Pless. He has been another rock in my support system who I through the tour department. Bailey is a Writer, Musical Artist, Content Creator and Up and Coming Stand Up Comedian who recently performed a set at the Netflix is Joke Festival. Bailey has a podcast with another friend of ours called ” The least famous Ryan with Bailey and Ryan”. He also works within music production to help assist both his stand and content creation. Currently Bailey is working as a freelance writer aside from music and comedy. I can always look to him for advice or just laughter.

Sheldon Cabrera-Miller. Sheldon is great friend and true supporter. He not only is a coworker but he is also my dance teacher. I train with him just about every week. Dance is also a great outlet for creative juices as well as a great work out. Sheldon is one of the most patient/giving humans I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with. Lots of laughter in a judgement free zone. Sheldon as a teacher always pushes to do more and more keeping it creative and challenging. I know once its time for dance class everything else doesn’t matter and I can just let loose and have a good time.
