We had the good fortune of connecting with Stizzo Speaks and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stizzo, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Absolutely! I am a people person! For as long as I can remember, I have been in the business of serving people! My work is really about impacting lives and communities, from a place within my heart which has been reserved to do the work of a healer, all while focusing on business leadership. I strive to impact others by being a fearless and unapologetic woman of color, living authentically in a world which tends to have many hurdles and obstacles placed in our way; both in the workplace and society. I strive to develop the best and brightest leaders in the world; men, women and children. The goal is to create a positive impact for our future by working daily to make change. In addition to my work as “Stizzo Speaks”, I give back to the community by being a big puzzle piece within my organization ‘Alluvione’. The organization strives to uplift and empower individuals through community sharing and resources, with an emphasis on our ‘Alluvione Gives Back (AGB) Program’ which directly supports youth entrepreneurs.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Stizzo Speaks is a business leader and coach. As a Leadership Development Coach, I work with clients to understand the basics of great leadership while identifying their personal strengths and working through areas of opportunity. In addition, I offer guidance through the fundamentals of business strategy and team building. I work with both individuals and companies on identifying skills and developing leaders. In addition to being a coach, I am also President of Alluvione Organization. Alluvione is a professional fundraising networking organization whose primary mission is to impact and influence the youth and connect entrepreneurs and business professionals.
What sets me apart from others is quite simple; there is no other Stizzo Speaks in the world. My coaching techniques are curated and crafted based on my personal story, experiences and skill set. I pride myself on being able to share and coach authentically.
I am most proud that I have been able to positively impact the lives of others, both close to me and complete strangers on the internet. I am most excited about continuing the work and taking ‘Stizzo Speaks’ to the biggest stages.
In life, anything easy usually isn’t worth having. My professional journey has not been easy but most definitely rewarding. I have so many stories of countless mistakes I’ve made along the way, each with a lesson learned and a greater risk taken. I am where I am today because I surround myself with people who are honest, encouraging and also aspire to be successful.
Overcoming challenges is crucial if you attain success. I overcame some of my biggest challenges by facing them head on versus hiding from them or being afraid of the potential outcome. Here are some of the lessons I learned along the way: be coachable because you are not always right (there are more than one or a few ways to get the job done), do everything with integrity, leaders can only be as good as their weakest link, you can tell the quality of a leader by the caliber of their team, never fail to recognize the problem, success is right on the other side of fear (fear is just an illusion we create for safety), face your problems because they don’t magically go away, a situation can always be worse, if everyone likes you then you are probably doing something wrong, be open to asking for help and if you fail to plan all you did was plan to fail!
I want the world to know ‘Stizzo Speaks’ has a gift to share! The time is NOW to get connected and make a positive impact on the life you want to create. It is imperative to avoid waiting to believe in yourself. I am better than I was yesterday and planning for the coach I will be tomorrow!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If a friend were visiting the area and I wanted to show them a good time, I would take them to Dave and Busters (my favorite place & great outing for relationship building), a nice rooftop for tacos & Lychee Martinis and hiking on Runyon! In my opinion, some of the most fun and exciting places to check out are the places where you can be yourself and live in the moment! Life is too short to be caught up on social media or in spaces not suitable to your happiness!
If you are in the LA area, check-out “The Outlet LA” (@theoutletLA) for the best curated events, including “Nightcap” a monthly Jazz/R&B Evening, “In-House” Open Mic Series and many more!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to first dedicate this Shoutout Series to myself for never giving up on the one thing which lights my fire everyday; leading people!
I owe credit to a few individuals and organizations who have collectively shaped the amazing woman I am today. By the way, if I forgot to mention you, blame my old age *wink wink*. First and foremost, Lorraine Marshall who birthed me into this world 39 years ago. You are my inspiration, my rock and the sole reason I strive to breathe deeper, live bigger and continue on this journey called life. Brendan Boyd and Lisa Montgomery, my two best friends who never give up on me and continue to push me daily. Bentley University’s Black United Body Organization and the Campus Residential Center for providing me with an opportunity to be a leader everyday on campus. Jim Robitaille, Nicole Leahy and David Penrice for being the best damn mentors in my professional career, EVER! I am forever indebted to the three of you! To every Employee I’ve had the pleasure (& sometimes pain) to work with, you all played a huge part in creating this fearless leader! To Levi Lawrence III (mastermind behind ‘Stizzo Speaks’) and my Alluvione Family, ‘thank you’ for believing and allowing me to carry the torch for this amazing organization. To Eric Jones, my heart of hearts, ‘thank you’ for kick-starting this journey, standing by my side, pushing me and being one of the best damn humans in my life. Lastly, to Alicia Keys, Tony Robbins and Simon Sinek, ‘thank you’ for inspiring leaders like myself and sharing your gifts with the world!
