We had the good fortune of connecting with Susaye Greene and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Susaye, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I have always been a creative soul. My parents were in showbusiness and I was encouraged to express myself in every way. I wrote my first song at 8. My mother realized early on that by supplying paper and pen, paints and canvas, clay, and any kind of tools to enhance my skills and confidence, a door to my fertile imagination was opened. As a voracious reader, the world of words and mental images came to life and my inspiration was born. I am happiest while creating. I have always known this would be a great part of my life.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a multi disciplinary artist, oil painting, water color, digital and traditional art, photography, a 3D artist, building in the Metaverse. I combine extreme color with characters designed for animation, film and games. A futurist; I believe in finding innovative possibilities, in art, combined with technology, science, human expression and storytelling.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When friends come to LA, I adore showing them my favorite spots of joy, from Zuma to Venice and Santa Monica beaches, Griffith Park for hiking and running, shopping in the malls in the San Fernando Valley, or over the hill to Rodeo Drive. We often wind up at the Robin Hood, a family friendly down to earth English Pub for fish and chips or Shepherd’s pie.
One of my favorite hotels, the glamorous pink famous Beverly Hills Hotel houses the Polo Lounge where movie stars and their agents shop movie deals.
The thing I love about LA most is one can ride along Mulholland Drive, wind up at the Hollywood sign, go to the beach in the morning and ski at Bear Mountain within a few hours if you’re so inclined.
So much to see and do in our sprawling city. Art walks to City Walks. The Natural History Museum to the Getty; LA has enough for everyone’s tastes.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ve been so blessed with great opportunities and the love of tremendous supporters and mentors. My faith has been my mainstay, but I can never forget the uplifting knowledge and dedication of my beautiful mother, Viviane Greene, born in Nacogdoches, Texas. She was a brilliant student, youngest to graduate from Prairie View College, a master’s degree in music, unparalleled classical pianist, who trained me, nurtured me and gave me the confidence to find my own magic in the world. Eternally grateful.
