Meet Susi Gonzalez

We had the good fortune of connecting with Susi Gonzalez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Susi, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
Besides deciding to work for myself, the best decision I made was to stick to what I love—natural nails. I stayed in my lane, even when trends pulled in other directions, and that really helped me build a loyal little community that appreciates the same things I do.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m the proud owner of Susi’s Nail Boutique, where we specialize in natural nail care. What sets us apart is our focus on healthy nails, thoughtful detail, and a calm, intimate space where clients truly feel cared for. I’ve never rushed to follow trends instead, I’ve stayed in my lane and built a brand rooted in quality, consistency, and connection.
Getting here wasn’t easy. I didn’t have a blueprint I just had a passion, a vision, and the determination to figure it out as I went. I’ve made mistakes, faced burnout, and had to learn how to set boundaries and run a business, not just do nails. But those lessons shaped me.
I’m proud of the little community I’ve built, not just with clients, but with other artists who’ve joined me along the way. I want the world to know that this space was created with heart and that behind every polished hand is a story, a connection, and a whole lot of care because this salon was built with love, and I hope that shows in every detail.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting for a week, I’d make sure we had a mix of relaxation, good food, and fun adventures. We’d start with a spa day or some self-care, nails would be a must! Then maybe explore some cute shops, local markets, and catch some live music or a fun event happening in town.
We’d try different restaurants some casual spots, a cozy brunch, and definitely one really nice dinner to dress up for. There’d be beach or nature time if we could swing it, and lots of late-night chats over dessert and drinks.
More than anything, I’d just want to create a week full of laughs, good vibes, and memories nothing too planned, just the best mix of chill and fun.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to dedicate my shoutout to my husband and kids—for their endless patience and support while I poured so much time into building something special. They’ve held it down during long days and late nights, and I’m forever grateful. And to my clients—every single one of you inspires me to grow, create, and keep showing up with love and purpose.
