We had the good fortune of connecting with Susy Porter and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Susy, what principle do you value most?
Honesty, integrity, and showing up for my clients. The work I do is a sacred calling. What matters most to me is that I hold a safe space for my clients. As they Re-Write Their Life in my course, it is a privilege to support them as we excavate and bring to light hidden beliefs and painful narratives. Nothing is more fulfilling than holding this space for the healing of others. I experience healing within myself as I witness their awakening.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My “art” is an expression of a lifetime of study, experience, and education. I combine my background as a writer/performer with mindest and coaching skills to create a program that is creative, fun, and experiential. I’ve always been a student of metaphysics and healing and that has been a throughline for me in every aspect of my life. I wrote and performed a solo show where I shared my darkest secrets, and the entire process of doing that was incredibly liberating. In my work with clients, I combine memoir with mindset, as well as the conviction that miracles are available for anyone, no matter how their “Once Upon A Time” began. The power of our narrative and the story we tell cannot be overestimated. It is my passion to help people change the narrative. We can’t change what happened to us, but we can change how we think about it. It is our responsibility to own our story and to decide what it means. For most of my life, I lived with painful beliefs because of childhood trauma. Because of the work I have done with my coach, and my own inner spiritual work, my life has changed and I am different. I suffered from depression, and rage, and now I am free of that because I excavated my hidden beliefs and Re-Wrote the Story. Sharing this work with others gives me deep joy. I have profound compassion for anyone who has lived through childhood trauma. I also have a deep conviction that everyone can heal. I know the power of our minds, and of this work. I have experienced it in my own life, and I see it in my clients as well.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite places is The Self Realization Fellowship on Sunset Blvd. It is a unique place; peaceful, meditative, and beautiful. The Inn Of The Seventh Rey on Topanga Blvd is a magical place to go for Sunday brunch. I think the Hollywood Forever Cemetary is a cool place to hang out. In addition to the celebrity gravesites, they have families of cats and peacocks that live in lovely wooden houses along the edge of the exit road. It is a rare find to visit this peaceful place right in the middle of Hollywood.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My coach, Kim Guillory, and her Integrative Coach Training. Marianne Williamson and her Miracle- MInded Coach Training. My husband and two children. Too many books to mention, but especially love the work of Eckhart Tolle, Byron Katie, Martha Beck, Dr. Elaine Aron, and Dr.David Hawkins. My mom and my two big brothers.
