We had the good fortune of connecting with Sylvester Phillips and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sylvester, how do you think about risk?
No risk no reward, isn’t that what they say. Risk taking was the challenges That I needed in life to bring me where I am today. The process of learning something new is always the possibility of being in a situation that can jeopardizing. I’m appreciative of that because it taught me to push myself. Being an African American male Growing up in southern Maryland is like growing up in a crab bowl. If you don’t challenge yourself or take the necessary risk that need to be taking then you can’t expect to be in any type of position that’s worth passing down to Kids and There generations As well.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What’s sets me apart from others my work ethic. One of the hardest things to do is to create a habit long enough to stick with and enjoying it enough to where you want to keep on going. It wasn’t easy because in industry you want to be able to tell your story and what you’ve been through not anyone else’s. I’ve learned to stay consistent with what I do. I started off with just pictures and now I do profesional commercials, and short movies. A big goal of mines is to launch a series of stories on Netflix .

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of my favorite places in my area to check out is Tempe Arizona. It’s a very very diverse community, so they have wide range of different foods from different cultures. Whenever I bring family members in to town the first place I take them is Chicago chicken shack. Arizona is also now for the best sunset, so By the end of the day I’ll stop by South Mountain to get a view of downtown Phoenix.
