We had the good fortune of connecting with Szilvia Campbell Bakos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Szilvia, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Without risks there is no evolution. In my work I move around in uncharted territories. I innovate healing movements that aim to create healing through functional movement, yoga, nervous system regulation and ceremonial work. All of this requires us to take risks and get out of our comfort zone, to discover the root-workings of our being and take a glorious reclaiming of our Power.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Patience has been my biggest challenge. When the pandemics started I was supposed to go on a big USA/European teaching tour. I had to let all of that go and refocus my business towards something new. Instead of being sad or panicked for too long, I worked on developing simple healing body movements (exercises) to bring the body into ‘healing mode’. I am about to launch TWO online training programs from what I have learnt in my ‘body lab’ the past year and a half and as a result of working with so many people in the past 9 years of my yoga teaching carrier! ONE OF MY NEW PROJECTS is to teach people how to bring the pelvis and jaw into alignment and coherent communication. Combining beauty fitness (face yoga and BLAFit) with functional movement and body liberation somatic workout. The other one is a 3 week long series aiming 50+ year olds and those who appreciate slowing down, educating the functional muscles of the body to turn on and teaching the nervous system to regulate. Giving people tools for their healing is one of my great passions in Life ! This work not only saved my mental sanity but furthermore evolved me into a more balanced and higher functioning, happy human. As a Creatrix I value the precious time of solitude and go ‘into my own learning, (body) lab’ and create. I take self care seriously through my own movement practices. Movement is prayer, medicine and my ceremony. Oh, also I lead warrior women training camps!!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take him/her to my favorite beach spots! Definitely the beach on PV and the Marina Peninsula. I would take my friend on a joyride along the PCH to Malibu and just ride as far as we please to go. I love driving during the sunset. Universal Studios would be on the list too. Because I am a great enthusiast of horseback archery and I feel my friend would be the same, I would visit my horse breeder friends in the desert and shoot bow and arrow together. And while we are out there we would spend at least a night at Joshua Tree. If this is a lady friend, we would certainly visit a Korean spa in downtown LA too.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
