We had the good fortune of connecting with T’aira Peters and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi T’aira, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Baw$e Aesthetics formerly known as Baw$e International launched to be a female empowerment lifestyle brand for women of all backgrounds, reminding them that regardless of what they do, when they do it and whatever life path they endure, they are still a BAW$E in their own way.

At the time, within my generation/surrounding associates, I felt like there were a lot of start-up clothing brands tailored towards males and

money-motivated tag-lines for male apparel and nothing for the female community; acknowledging that we can hustle just like them if not better. Therefore, I created the Baw$e Brand. Baw$e is an acronym that stands for and represents all Bad Ass Women Securing Everything

The initial brand; Baw$e International became a LLC in 2019 but I struggled with creativity and making more of my brand than just putting the name on a

t-shirt and expecting it to sell. I wanted it to have meaning that my audience would recognize instantly without having to breakdown the name. The thought process behind my brand really came to mind as a affirmation to myself. I found myself comparing my life progress to others and learned to realize, it is OK to live life at my own pace and speed and just because I currently did not have it figured out did not make me less of a Baw$e. God was just preparing me for what was to come and I needed to be patient with his timing. With time and thought, I transitioned into the name Baw$e Aesthetics. Still including empowerment motives, Baw$e Aesthetics provides the environment and services to boost confidence and push self-care to hard working women or simply women who need a little “look good, feel good” reminder.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Baw$e Aesthetics is an beauty aesthetics spa that offers Body Sculpting and Teeth Whitening Treatments. With more services to come, our intendment is to boost confidence and provide self-care enjoyment. Even Baw$e’s deserve pampering and relaxation after a long day or week, and that is where my services thrive.

I believe what sets my business apart from others is the experience. It is genuine, it is soft, it is comforting, it is relaxing. When you come into Baw$e Aesthetics you will always walk out refreshed! The services I offer will have you feeling relaxed yet, impelled and ready to do more for yourself!. The experience alone will make you want to start showing up for yourself because when you look good, you feel good, you do good.

The road to getting where I am now has had it’s ups and down but I’ve learned to embrace the good and the bad on my journey because it continues to make me wiser and resilient. I have an underlining love for marketing and presentation, so presenting my business and marketing my business is one of my favorite aspects of running my business. If anything, the most challenging aspect of my business is continuing to show up for my business during the moments when business is slow. Baw$e Aesthetics is my 9 to 5, so when Covid transpired for the second time, business was slow and it was challenging for me to be motivated to show up even when my clients didn’t. I went through a phase of being unmotivated and discouraged so much that it took a lot from me mentally and emotionally to pull myself out & refocus on getting back on top. Although the Covid momentum has decelerated, naturally slow seasons still occur but I am more aware and far along in my business where it is easier for me to adjust and hustle through it and stand strong in my resilience.

My ultimate take of being an entrepreneur is realizing that I am bigger than what makes me anxious and fearful.  I always remind myself to inhale courage and exhale fear because I am a Baw$e, I am a Bad Ass Woman Securing Everything and so are YOU. Your time may not be right now, and it may not be when you want it but you have to trust the timing of your life. Manifest your goals loudly and proudly and  understand, there is no competition because nobody can be YOU.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My best-friend is in town for a week, so if you know me, you know I will have the whole week planned out because I am THAT organized! So MONDAY, we will most likely do something light and relaxing and indulged in a little spa day with @GetgeldbyG. She specializes in gel mani & pedi’s as well as travels followed by a massage session with @divine.n.aligned. Her hands work magic, and highly recommended mobil Masseuse in Los Angeles. Lastly, we will end our spa experience with a facial by @honeymuse the skin healer and finish off our day at local eatery called @findyourhilltop, located in Inglewood, Ca. TUESDAY, You can find us at Martin’s in Inglewood for a good Taco Tuesday! WEDNESDAY, will be dedicated to going to @theveganplayground, a local food truck pop up that happens every Wednesday and Friday. THURSDAY, we will have reservations at @theblendinglab located in beverly hills for a little pre-teaser to the weekend. FRIDAY, we will have a girls movie night at @melroserooftoptheatre.  SATURDAY’s always seems like the day out of the week to go for a good hike or bike ride at the beach and Lastly, we will finish off the week on SUNDAY at one of LA’S hottest popup shops; @blackxtheblock (Black on the Block). With over 100+ vendors monthly, black on the block is a really fun and dope platform for black creatives to market, network, flourish and support other black owned small businesses. Such an amazing event and experience that turns into a little backyard boogie by the end of the night !

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would first and foremost like to thank my mom for believing in me and my vision enough to help me invest in resources and tools to be successful in this beauty industry along with assisting me in the initial start-up of my brand and business even till this day! I would also like to shoutout my original mentor; Vanessa J., Owner of Calibods, Located in Long Beach,CA. She not only taught me the blueprint of Body Sculpting but continues to guide me through this industry and keeps me updated on the latest resources and tools needed to keep me successful. Lastly, I would like to recognize my close family and friends who motivate me to keep going and push through my fears and show up for me every time without even asking. Forever grateful and thankful for my village.
