We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamra Coviello and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tamra, what do you attribute your success to?
The success behind my sustainable Timeless Modern design is my core values I bring to every client’s home or business. I am a vegan, sustainable interior designer. The pillars of my designs begin with choosing products and processes that provide a healthy space that is primarily community-based with local trades whom I partner with to infuse custom, one-of-a-kind pieces for my clients. At the foundation of all my designs are my inspiration of midcentury patterns and textiles with modern colorways to carry the design into several decades to come. In addition, I enjoy getting to know my clients stories and intertwining their history into the design. Each new design becomes an experience  that enriches my life and my clients lifestyles.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have always been a creative person in some form or another. My  superpower is my ability to visualize a space from ceiling to floor completely designed and furnished from inception. I am a solution-based person. I do not see problems or conflicts. I see solutions and opportunities for growth. I love the conception of creating a beautiful space and humbled by the gratitude from my clients when I provide new or different functions that they did not consider possible.

By challenging myself over the years, I have learned what works and what does not work. I surround myself with talented artists in their fields that take their craft as seriously as I do mine. We enjoy coming together to accomplish my next out-of-the-box design. Often I will get a text from one of them asking how they can recreate what we did in my client’s home in their own home. I find that the ultimate compliment when a fellow colleague I admire is asking me to do something similar for them.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I recently moved to the outskirts of San Diego and have been exploring so many hidden gems. I do have girlfriends visit from out of state. I was a military kid, so my childhood friends are from the Midwest. They always want to do touristy things. But now at our age, umm (50’s, shhh). The next time one of them is out here I am taking them to Glen Ivy for an entire day of grottos, mineral baths, and floating in the pool out in Temecula.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The person who comes to mind that has been a great support to me personally and my business is a colleague in the industry. Her name is Joanna Osbourne. She is an executive for Pacific Sales/Best Buy in my area. Her energy is infectious and her generosity with her time and her knowledge is bountiful. We were instantly drawn to one another when I came in and introduced myself to her at the beginning of the pandemic. I had only ventured out on my own for a year from my prior design job when the lockdown occurred, looking for ways to connect with the public reached out to her showroom to see if I could give a presentation of my kitchen and bath services to her sales people. Not only did she welcome me with open arms that day, but she also invited me to a networking group she belonged to and introduced me to some of the best industry leaders in our field. It has been so refreshing to meet another woman in the industry who comes from a place of giving, too. She is someone that all admire who are in her presence. I am honored to be in her circle. She gives me the energy to keep striving for my goals.
