Meet Tania Clark | Professional Ballroom Dancer & Co-Owner of JT Ballroom Dance Studio

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tania Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tania, what do you attribute your success to?
Having clear and precise values and missions. Both my husband and I have been in the arts the majority of our lives. We have experienced any and all types of studios and after spending so much time in these different environments surrounded by different types of dancers and coaches, we also knew what the community was lacking and needed. We had a strong mission and a deep belief in our system of teaching and wanted to share that. JT Ballroom Dance Studio officially opened in 2019 in Tarzana and we are so proud to have become one of LA’s top studios in this short amount of time.
Our mission is to share our passion and the life-changing power of dance with everyone who walks through our doors. We provide the highest level of dance in a space filled with love. From the moment you walk in you will find a safe, fun and encouraging environment that feels like a second home, filled with highly trained instructors committed to your dancing goals and growth. People from all ages, backgrounds, dance abilities, all growing together, supporting one another and creating lasting memories. It is home. It takes a lot of courage as an adult to walk into a dance studio, especially for the first time, so it is incredibly important to us to make sure that every person that walks in feels welcomed and supported.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
One thing that we pride ourselves on is our community of dancers. Such a wide range of wonderful people because at JT Ballroom Dance Studio, dance is for everyone. From traditional Ballroom to exciting Latin dances, we offer a wide variety of classes and individualized programs for all singles or couples, in all levels and ages. This is not a walk in/walk out type studio where nobody knows your name. In fact, we are quite the opposite. We are incredibly invested in the growth of our students and encourage our students to push themselves out of their comfort zones, becoming the best versions of themselves. The JTB Method is our unique system of teaching that will get EVERY level of dancer to their desired goal in the most efficient and effective way. All done in the most positive and uplifting environment! We have an amazing team of highly trained and talented instructors who are well-rounded, patient, and passionate about dance. We take the progress of our students very seriously and plan lessons with their individual goals in mind, while always making the dance journey a fun and exciting experience.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As a small business owner in the San Fernando Valley, I think it is incredibly important to support other local businesses. I would suggest experiencing the amazing culture that LA provides as well. Start with a yummy Rose Matcha from Tang and Java, then go explore the beautiful Japanese Garden in Van Nuys. I may be biased but Persian food is a must in LA. For lunch I recommend Mr. Juice. Try their traditional Persian sandwiches, fresh watermelon juice and then their delicious Persian saffron ice cream for desert. Walk it all off by exploring the Commons in Calabasas. For dinner, head to Shirin Restaurant in Woodland Hills. Get their delicious eggplant dish and shallot yogurt for appetizer and one of their yummy stews or kabobs for the entree. Of course I would suggest finishing the night with some dancing! Head down the street to JT Ballroom for a super fun group class and stay for the party. It’s a great opportunity to try all the different ballroom dances and meet some fantastic people.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have been around dancers, artists and teachers all of my life but my husband, Jim Clark is in a league of his own and continues to inspire me everyday. His talent, hard work, passion, dedication, patience and kindness are rare. He is equally invested in the journey of new dancers as he is to his competitive dancers and has the unique ability to create beautiful dancers at any age from the ground up. That too is extremely rare and difficult. There are teachers who teach and then there are TEACHERS who inspire and change lives, and that is Jim. I am in awe of him everyday.
