Meet Tannaz Santos: Fine art photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tannaz Santos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tannaz, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Being a photographer was always my dream so I followed my dream. I was lucky enough that I could stay home with my kids and do my dream job!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have a long way to go to get to where I want to be. I’m a mom of 3 beautiful boys full of energy 🙂 it’s not easy to keep up with them and have time to be creative lol it’s a challenge for sure. I work mostly after my kids sleep, sometimes I’m up till 4-5 am editing that I can keep up with my photography and being a mom during the day. I practice a lot and I purchase a lot of workshops and learn more and more. I learned different techniques from different artists and make my own. I do a lot of story telling images and I’m really enjoying them and I think that makes me little different from other photographers. I’m no way better than others but little different! I use to do graphic design full time and photography part time till I had my third son. It was hard to have a full time job and learn to be a better photographer but hard work always pays off in my opinion.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a really simple person and I don’t really go to that many places lol I would take them for a nice taco for sure, there is a really really good taco truck in Pasadena that I love! I love nature so I think I would take my friend to one of the nice gardens like Huntington garden and have tea there. I love breakfast, it’s my favorite meal of the day so I’ll say for sure I would have a breakfast with my friend in a comfortable dinner that we can sit as long as we like and eat and chat! I’m old now and my favorite place is my own house so I think we would stay in and cook and eat and watch good movies lol
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ll give the shoutout to my husband for taking care of our family that I can follow my dream specially during the Covid, he’s taking care of the house and children while I go to the studio and shoot. I’m thankful that they’re so many good Facebook group of photographers that we all help each other to be better. And I’m thankful to all of my clients for trusting me and keep coming back to me!
