We had the good fortune of connecting with Tanya Cobey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tanya, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Habits are one of those things that can either make or break you, it’s how you use them that help shape who you are.  The habits I rely upon in business are my good work ethic, organizational skills, bedside manner, attention to detail and knowing when to ask for help from other successful people when needed.  I always believed that you must practice what you preach, so I try making a conscious effort in my own personal health to help me succeed in my field. I try to make exercise, healthy eating and keeping a positive mind my priority when building good habits. Working in the healthcare field requires being able to help people achieve their optimal wellness goals, so inherently building those healthy habits early on has definitely played an important role in my career.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Working as a Chiropractor for the last ten years, I have learned so much about perfecting my craft. I realized along the way that “we” as chiropractors are not all the same. I have built my practice in a way where I would feel comfortable being treated as a patient. The relationships I have established with my patients and having them trust me with their care is what makes my career so rewarding.  I believe what sets me apart from other chiropractors is that I look at the body as a “whole” rather than just the symptoms. I wanted my business, Health and Human Performance, to become a total wellness center offering the highest quality of chiropractic care, massage therapy, private yoga therapy, rehabilitative exercise and nutritional counseling. I take pride in educating my patients on how important the nervous system is and how the mind and body work together. Each patient’s treatment plan is individualized through specific chiropractic adjustments, myofascial release and rehabilitative exercises. I try to be as thorough as I can so that I can use all the tools and knowledge to help my patients genuinely feel better and reach their optimal health.

We are very excited to announce that we recently moved to a new location and are ready to offer care to everyone who is looking to improve their overall health and wellness with a more holistic approach.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As an LA native, I must say I have been everywhere near and far from the city! However, there are a few spots dear to my heart that for sure make the list for visitors. The first spot being any beach along the coast, from Zuma to Malibu to Santa Monica, getting brunch at Malibu Farm Cafe is one of my favorites with great views of the ocean. For a more adventurous day, hiking the Griffith Observatory is a great way to see LA, and of course the stars! Now shopping is a must on the list, and probably one of my most favorite things to do. Given that LA has such great weather, an open-air mall such as The Grove has so many options for trending fashion and great restaurants to check out. I would also say Beverly Hills is on the list to visit if you’re a serious spender or maybe even spot a celebrity, however, window shopping is just as fun! As far as nightlife goes, I love a good rooftop bar like Perch LA in downtown or Mama Shelter in Hollywood. 71 Above in downtown, is another great spot for dinner and drinks that has an amazing bird’s eye view of the city.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

Growing up, I wasn’t really sure what field I wanted to go into, I always had a creative side, so I thought for sure I would land somewhere along those lines. However, it was after my first adjustment, that I knew I wanted to be in the healthcare field. My eldest sister, Randa, who is also a Chiropractor in Simi Valley, inspired me to follow in her footsteps after becoming one of her first patients. She taught me a lot about wellness and creating a healthy lifestyle which overlaps into my personal life. As I learned the skills and knowledge about becoming a great Chiropractor from my sister, mentors and colleagues, one area that I needed more help with was becoming a successful business owner. Luckily for me, I had my eldest brother, Richard, his experience and guidance helped me set up the foundation I would need to achieve my goals. He challenged me to think outside the box and helped me value the risk of running my own business.  I want to give a shoutout to my family for being so supportive in my endeavors and giving me all the love and encouragement I need to be successful.
