We had the good fortune of connecting with Tanya DeFreitas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tanya, what matters most to you?
In business and in my personal life, integrity and commitment matter to me. I strongly believe in doing what is right because it is right and doing what is right even when no one else is watching. I also strongly believe that we should keep our commitments no matter how we feel. Feelings are fickle and inconstant. They change and they often lie to us. We have to be strong enough to override a feeling and emotion in order to maintain a commitment. These principles have served me well in life. Although I may have paid a higher price for walking in integrity and truth, in the end, I come out on top because I maintain these values and strive to keep my word.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a writer. I have been writing since I was a young girl. I write poetry, short stories, and about my own life and experience. I am most proud of becoming a self-published author. For many years, as a young girl, I dreamt of becoming an author. To see my books for sale and to read reviews by those who have purchased and read my books makes me proud.
I started my journey as a publisher after first becoming a published author. I learned the ropes well and decided I knew enough to help others. Since beginning my journey, I have helped more than 150 writers becomes first time published authors and it has not been two years since I started. There are challenging days and moments, but there are lessons in the challenges and I look for learning them. My company and the work I do is seasoned with love. I treat my clients and their work the way I would want to be treated. I conduct business with excellence, understanding, and integrity – always!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There is so much to see and do! If my best friend were visiting the area and we had a week to explore, we would hit the coast. We would visit iconic beaches including Venice and Santa Monica. We would drive up the coast to Santa Barbara, have lunch and then come back down to the L.A. area. We’d stop in Hollywood, drive around to see the houses, walk around on the Blvd., eat and be merry. Time permitting, we may visit San Francisco or ditch to Las Vegas! There is so much to see and do in the city and surrounding. It really depends on the time, money, and energy available to put out. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to my mother and my grandmother who taught me the value and importance of telling the truth and keeping my word.
