We had the good fortune of connecting with Tara Rice and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tara, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I feel the most important factor behind my business is the dedication I give to my business to evolve and adapt. Last year is a good example of having to adapt to new rules and conditions. I also feel taking the time to learn about the girls and women I work with is very important. I feel the best way I can support, teach and help the girls and women grow as individuals is to have a good relationship where I can understand more about their upbringing, values and goals.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been a Pageant Director and Coach for the past 8 years. I’m honored to be recognized as the Best State pageant in the USA voted by pageantry professionals and contestant reviews on Pageant Planet. In 2020, three of my California United States titleholders became national titleholders. It hasn’t always been easy and my husband likes to joke with me that I work for pennies. All jokes aside the truth is I don’t make a lot of money but what I do is more rewarding and the way I’m able to impact lives matters more to me then money. I hope to inspire many generations to come to follow their dreams and to advocate for what they believe in. What I love most about working with the United States Pageant system is that we focus on platforms and community service.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I really love the diversity and culture in LA. I’m a California native so there’s many things I love about our beautiful state. If had a best friend come tomorrow I would first take her to one of my favorite hiking spots in Santa Clarita. After hiking grab lunch at Nobu. Nobu is one of my favorite sushi spots in Los Angeles. Lastly, maybe enjoy a glass of wine at one of wineries in Malibu.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I feel my biggest supporters have been my parents. As a young girl and teen my parents always encouraged me to try new things and never told me no. When I was asked to participate in my first pageant as a teen my parents without hesitation said go for it. They supported me every step of the way. I truly feel I couldn’t have won my first pageant without the support of them. If there’s one thing I have learned from my parents as a parent myself now to two young boys is to always be there for your children to support and encourage them to do well and not to be afraid of failure.
